Cool: 2024 Toyota Prius 24h Le Mans Centennial GR Edition!

Toyota dropped the bomb and a few hours ago presented a concept car that redefines our view of the Prius: the Toyota Prius 24h Le Mans Centennial GR Edition. The peculiarity? This gem is one of a kind and is based on the fifth generation of the hybrid production model. But there's a lot to discover that the Prius goes well beyond the production model. It becomes a racing car - that's how you could describe the extensive aerodynamic modifications that make the Prius fit for the racetrack. The front apron is not only redesigned, but also equipped with powerful multiple headlights from motorsport. This is joined by an expansive splitter that dominates the front end. Two canards on each side of the skirt and a honeycomb lower front air intake complete the aggressive look.

But it goes further: The Prius GR Edition can score with a lightweight carbon fiber hood, black fender flares and side sill flares. A striking "Racing Hybrid" sticker adorns the vehicle and emphasizes the sporty character. The rear also features a fixed rear wing and a wide diffuser, which combine to provide additional downforce on the track.

And the 18-inch RAYS alloy wheels with 235/50R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires aren't just for looks - they give the vehicle the traction it needs. In addition, the Prius is equipped with a "broad track" suspension, which provides a more stable driving experience. Incidentally, both the wheels and the aerodynamic components are from the TGR WEC competition vehicle, the GR010 HYBRID, inspired. Amazingly, no changes appear to have been made to the hybrid powertrain.

But don't worry, while the concept vehicle is one of a kind, a GRMN variant of the Prius inspired by the concept could follow. A homage to Le Mans and the French Automobile Club de l'Ouest, the Prius-based concept vehicle packs a real punch. However, whether the Prius 24h Le Mans Centennial GR Edition will remain just a prototype or the GRMN variant will become a reality remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: with the racing Prius, the hybrid is anything but boring. If we get more information, there is of course an update for this report.
