2023 Toyota GR Corolla Circuit Edition!

The Toyota Corolla has been the most-produced car ever for generations and is known as a loyal and reliable companion in almost all situations. So far, sportiness has not been its trump card, but that could change with the introduction of the first GR Corolla generation change. The hot hatch has a 1,6-liter three-cylinder turbo with 303 hp under the hood and is intended to attract young and dynamic customers to Toyota's showrooms with its sporty but not exaggerated design. At least in the USA, Japan and many other countries, but unfortunately not in Germany for the time being. We would still like to present the model to you as a Circuit Edition.

Limited special edition!

Production of the special model is limited to 1.500 units per year. This is a small number compared to the planned annual production of the GR Corolla, which is expected to be around 8.000 units. It was actually planned that the Circuit Edition would only be produced in the 2023 model year, but due to the high demand, Toyota decided to extend the production of the series. Unlike the Core Edition, the Circuit Edition is a bit thicker in terms of styling, for example it has large, functional air intakes on the hood, which are finished in black. This is joined by a large, shiny black one at the rear roof spoiler, which protrudes prominently. The vehicle roof is made of carbon and behind the rims are red brake calipers with the GR emblem.

Sporty and elegant interior!

The cockpit shows its best side and is covered in imitation leather and heated Sports Seats the occupants are greeted with red accents. There's also a heated steering wheel, a custom Morizo-branded shift knob, and an XNUMX-speaker JBL sound system.

Most powerful series engine with three cylinders!

The big surprise lurks under the hood. A 1,6 liter three-cylinder engine with single turbocharging and 303 hp provides propulsion. No trace of hybridization! It is shifted via a manual six-speed gearbox that permanently transmits the power to all four wheels. Thanks to all-wheel drive and manual transmission, the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 5,2 seconds. Only the top speed is relatively poor for this class with an electronically limited 230 kilometers per hour.

Our conclusion:

  • The Circuit Edition is the right choice for those who like to look a little thicker. However, if you only want performance without preferring a sporty look, you should better go for the base model GR Corolla Core Edition.
