Classic from Stuttgart on BBS rims - Mercedes 190E!

In the 1980s, the automotive world looked completely different. At that time a Mercedes was still blessed with absolute exclusivity and the star shone even brighter in the car sky. At a time when no one knew anything about influencers who bring Mercedes-Benz sales figures and promotions with YouTube videos, but somehow scratch the brand's image, the Stuttgart-based company brought out the first smaller car, the 190. Benz ”with the internal factory code W201 was intended to open up completely new groups of buyers for the brand and position the then still elitist brand in the upper middle class. As a basic version, the 190 was extremely sparsely equipped and with a naturally aspirated diesel engine, it was also often mocked as a traffic obstacle and pensioner vehicle. But there were also more powerful versions with which Mercedes-Benz tried to steal the three-series from BMW customers. The BMW clientele could usually not be convinced by a brand change, but the predecessor of the currently known C-Class was a complete success, which also achieved high sales figures internationally.

A classic in perfect condition!

This 190 E 2.3-16, which somehow found its way to China, is in absolutely perfect condition and could easily be given into collector's hands to mature into a real classic car in an air-conditioned garage. The chrome-plated BBS rims are very sporty and elegant at the same time, and fit perfectly with the meanwhile historical vehicle. The lowering has also been done discreetly and is therefore successful. Nowadays such well-preserved specimens of the type are extremely rare and just like its competitor, the BMW M3 E30, it is increasingly becoming a collector's item. That is why it is difficult to optically refine such a classic, as it quickly becomes embarrassing if you let a historic automobile degenerate into a craft shop. In our opinion, it is not true that cars from the 1980s can no longer mature into classic cars, and simply belong to the scrap heap. This era, which was not exactly characterized by extravagant design, will produce its treasures, which will mature into exclusive vintage cars in a few years or decades. At a classic get-together, the car is definitely a sporty eye-catcher with a rear spoiler, which is typical for this era, as it has been refined in a very discreet and contemporary way, and is also absolutely rust-free and very well cared for.

The engine has remained as standard!

The 190E 2.3-16 develops 170 hp and 220 Newton meters of maximum torque and already has a catalytic converter. Even today, it is still not a moving dune with such a motor, as it has an extremely low weight of just over 1.200 kg for current conditions. Modern mid-range sedans weigh a good 300-400 kg more and the weaker variants no longer have any performance. But it makes no sense to race with an oldie like this anyway. Such automobiles, which are on the verge of becoming classic cars, should be treated with care in order to preserve them and to increase their value even further in the future.

The coolness factor increases rapidly.

It is particularly interesting for young people that limousines from the 80s, which were then considered retirees' cars, have an ever increasing coolness factor. The retro and vintage look is all the rage again, and more and more young people are enjoying the vehicles that their parents or grandparents once drove. Such a specimen like this Mercedes 190E 2.3-16 has to be looked for like a needle in a haystack, because to find one for sale in this condition is like winning the lottery.
