Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN unveils the new C 41!

Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN has presented the new racing car for the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in Warsaw. The Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN C41 was welcomed by drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi as well as substitute driver Robert Kubica in the impressive backdrop of the Grand Theater of the Polish capital. In accordance with the measures taken in the fight against Corona, the event took place without an audience and was instead broadcast live on the Internet.

Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN - C 41

The distinctive color scheme of the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN C41 was created in the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile. The design shows the traditional colors of the brand, red and white. The racing car, which was designed under the direction of Technical Director Jan Monchaux, is a further development of the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN C39, with which the team competed in the 2020 season. Due to the restrictions imposed by the Formula 1 regulations, the C41 takes over many of the components of its predecessor. In detail, however, there are some innovations for which the technicians used so-called "tokens". The number of these development jokers is limited. The engineers at Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN used the valuable tokens for the C41, especially for an optimized shape of the vehicle nose. The engine provided by Ferrari is also a new development. It will be ignited for the first time on Friday of this week when the team starts testing ahead of the new season in Barcelona, Spain.

On the body of the C41, the Alfa Romeo logo is flanked by two traditional symbols: the Quadrifoglio, the four-leaf clover that has accompanied Alfa Romeo's racing activities since 1924, and the symbol of Autodelta, the brand's legendary racing team. Both logos stand for a classic design, passion and tradition and make the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN C41 unmistakable on the grid.

Alfa Romeo will also compete in the 1 FIA Formula 2021 World Championship together with the Swiss racing team Sauber Motorsport. The partnership between two of the best-known brands in motorsport began in 2018 when Alfa Romeo first appeared as the team's title sponsor. In the previous three years of operational cooperation, the team has achieved important successes. In keeping with its traditional competitive spirit, Alfa Romeo takes on the Formula 1 challenge again.

But the partnership between Alfa Romeo and the Sauber Group goes far beyond racing. The cooperation, both technically and commercially, makes it possible to transfer the technical competence of Sauber Engineering to the production vehicles of Alfa Romeo. The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA project, which uses the invaluable know-how of the engineering and aerodynamics departments of Sauber AG, benefited in particular from this long-term partnership. For the two model versions Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm, Sauber Engineering produces a large part of the carbon fiber components for the body, which have an impact on the vehicle's aerodynamics.

Frédéric Vasseur, Team Director Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN and CEO Sauber Motorsport AG:

"The idea of a new car is always an emotional moment, the culmination of months of efforts by everyone in the factory and the beginning of a new adventure. I think the team's philosophy remains the same: we have to do a better job tomorrow than we do today. We finished eighth last season so we have to aim for a better result in 8. To do that, we need to improve in every department, both on the track and at headquarters. Every team has very high expectations at the moment. They all assume that they did a good job over the winter and are well positioned for the first race. Soon it will be time for everyone to put the cards on the table. "

Jan Monchaux, Technical Director Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN:

"The C41 is the result of a very unusual situation in Formula 1. The regulations did not allow us to develop a completely new car for 2021. For this reason, the C41 shares many components with the 39 C2020. Exceptions are, for example, the parts that we had to change due to the new regulations, in which we have therefore invested our two tokens for development. They affect the underbody and the nose of the vehicle. That means we know the 2021 car a lot better than usual when we get to the first test. Still, it will be crucial to make the most of the three days of testing ahead. We have to check whether the reality corresponds to the simulations and also get to know the new tires. We're ready for the new season and can't wait to see our new car on the track."
