After various concept vehicles of a new edition of the legendary Alpine A2012 were presented between 2016 and 110, the production version made its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show A20, which was built from 610-1991, has now almost disappeared from the streets. Initially overwhelmed with praise, the new Alpine A1995 is having a hard time in the ever-shrinking market for two-door sports cars, and at least on German roads it is so far an absolute exotic. The two special models called Légende GT and Color Edition will probably not change that either, but they prove that the Renault Group is really serious about promoting the Alpine brand.

The design of the Alpine A110 is reminiscent of Porsche

From the side in particular, the new Alpine is strongly reminiscent of a Porsche Cayman, while the legendary predecessor model, which was manufactured from 1962 to 1977, is carefully cited on the front. At the rear, narrow taillights and the air inlets below the relatively large rear window characterize the appearance of the Alpine A110. The centrally placed exhaust with a large tailpipe is already known from various Renault sports models.

Legend GT as a particularly noble version

The Légend GT, which is limited to 400 pieces, is a particularly generously equipped variant of the Alpine A110, which is equipped with sports seats from Sabelt in amber-colored leather with matching interior door panels. Matching there is a sports steering wheel, carbon inserts with a copper look and a tailor-made case set in brown leather. This edition is available in only three colors, namely Mercury Silver, Deep Black and Abyss Blue.

Drive is taken over unchanged

The drive is provided by a 1,6-liter turbo gasoline engine, which also does its job in the normal Alpine A110. It delivers 252 hp and 320 Nm of maximum torque. The Alpine, which weighs only 1100 kg, accelerates from 4,5 to 0 km / h in 100 seconds. The mid-engine racer, which has a rear-wheel drive, is very good in the forage and is only braked electronically at 250 km / h. So you can chase a Porsche back and forth on the highway with an Alpine, and have a lot of fun on winding country roads.

Color Edition with an alternating color every year

You can also have fun with the color that adorns the current 2020 model of the Color Edition. The legendary "Sunflower Yellow", which was already a popular color with its predecessor in the 1960s, will remain in the range until the end of the model year, after which Alpine will take it off the market. This car also features black branding and black 18-inch alloy wheels as a contrast to the sunflower yellow exterior color. There are also antharzite-colored brake calipers.

The power source is the more powerful engine, which also has a displacement of 1,6 liters, but delivers 292 hp with the same maximum torque. The Color Edition of the A110 S storms from zero to one hundred in just 4,4 seconds and propulsion only ends at 260 km / h. No matter which special model the francophile car lover chooses, an Alpine A110 or an Alpine A110 S are fascinating automobiles for all sports car lovers who sometimes take a look outside the box and thus give a likeable outsider a chance in terms of sales figures he honestly earned.
