A thrilling drag race recently captivated car enthusiasts as three modified classics went head-to-head in a horsepower duel. Also present: a 1987 Mazda RX-7 with Wankel engine, a 1996 Nissan 240 SX with 2JZ engine and a 1999 BMW M3. All three have been heavily modified to get the best out of each. Unfortunately, the technical data of the Mazda RX-7 was not fully transmitted due to a translation error in the video. But what is known has it all: The Mazda has a 1,3-liter rotary piston engine that is said to bring a whopping 500 hp onto the road. Unfortunately, you don't notice this in the race. But the 240SX has more than earned its place in the competition. With a three-litre straight-six, also tuned to around 500hp, and a T56 Tremec six-speed manual gearbox fitted, it has impressive performance. A Borg 372SXE turbocharger and forged internals complete the setup.
BMW E36 M3 (E36) vs Mazda RX7 vs Nissan 240SX 2JZ
The 240SX was driven with 93 octane fuel and a boost pressure of 21 PSI. Despite all these changes, the Nissan retains its complete interior, including air conditioning, and even the spare wheel is still on board. The yellow M3 from BMW is the third in the group and is said to conjure up 520 hp from its 3,2-liter straight-six. But can he win the race with his performance? The drag race promises an exciting exchange of blows between the three vehicles, which could not be more different in their original equipment, but have become serious opponents through modifications. The question of who will win the muscle man duel remains open until the last second of the race. The video provides the eagerly awaited answer. If you don't want to miss it, you should definitely take a look.
