Three turbochargers, six cylinders in series and 381 PS! The key data of the BMW X5 M50d (F15) can still be seen years after its presentation (08 / 2013). The N57D30S1 engine naturally ensures that 5,3 km / h can be reached in only 100 seconds, and that it is only gently stopped at electronically sealed 250 km / h. But slowly but surely the top model of the diesel series has to accept that soon the X5 (G05) just presented as M50d Performance Diesel will replace the F15. He will run on the well-known B57D30C Quadturbo diesel with 400 PS we already know from the M550d and 750d.
The fact that the M50d F15 does not look outdated or obsolete shows us a completely rebuilt vehicle from DS automobiles & auto plants from Switzerland. The black X5 M50d F15 got a comprehensive Hamann Motorsport widebody kit that makes the visual appearance of the X5 much more powerful. The body kit includes a modified and significantly widened front bumper with integrated daytime running lights in fiber-optic technology and LED fog lights. It continues with chic widebody fenders front and rear with the front indicated gills carry.
There are also elegantly modeled side skirts that create a transition between the flared fenders. DS installed the 2-part Hamann roof spoiler on the edge of the roof and the huge appearance was rounded off with a formidable rear apron with diffuser and sports exhaust system with four black anodized tailpipe trims. The components ensure that the X5 is a huge 12 centimeters wide, which is of course an announcement. The M50d from DS also got a 22 inch set of Hamann Anniversary EVO rims with black paint that sits perfectly in the wheel arch thanks to the lowering.
However, we have no information regarding a performance increase Hamann has for the M50d in stock. It provides a performance leap from 381 to 462 PS via chip tuning powerbox. We hope that we, and also to the installed lowering, get some information. If it does happen, there is of course, as always, an update for this report.
