Changan (Chongqing Changan Automobile Company)

The manufacturer Changan is one of many Chinese manufacturers that are currently springing up out of the ground. Although the company is not newly founded, it has been on the market for decades, but apparently automobile production was not always the main focus. This is only reasonably verifiable from around 1988 and the Chongqing Changan Automobile Company tried to boost production even more, especially after 2000. With vehicles such as the Changan CS85 Coupé, however, you see yourself, typically Chinese, repeatedly faced with simply producing cheap copies of European manufacturers. Since 2001 you have been in a joint venture with Ford involved and builds the Mondeo in its third and current generation and the Ford Focus for China. Currently (as of 2020) there are still licensed buildings, but also the mentioned “own” models. The cars are manufactured in five factories spread across the country and there is talk of a total annual production of around 300.000 units. The company is a subsidiary of the state-owned China South Industries Group.
