Tuning slip: Chinese runabout fails trying to be a German luxury car!

If you've always Audi RS7 Performance, model year 2024, but don't have the wherewithal for the German coupe, a new trend in China could be right up your alley. A group of tuners has the right innocent Changan UNI-V taken and him one front bumper missed by the current RS7. That sounds like a great idea, doesn't it? Well, let's let the facts speak for themselves. The Changan UNI-V was introduced in 2021 by Chinese automaker Changan, which is positioned at the lower end of the "Big Four" of the Chinese auto industry. Originally it was intended as a direct competitor to the Honda Civic Yes designed and brings it to a length of 4.680 mm. Externally, it was somewhat reminiscent of the Audi A7, but without the high-gloss finish and, of course, its price.

Audi RS7 performance look

The Changan UNI-V is offered in two versions, as Sport- and as Premium-Variant. And now a resourceful tuner has taken a premium model and equipped it with an RS7 front apron. The result is, to put it mildly, interesting. The mechanics had to work really hard to mount the front apron of the RS7 on the Uni-V. With "welding' - or rather, melting plastic together - and numerous changes, they tried to bridge the incompatibilities of the two different cars. By the way, only a tired 1,5-liter turbo four-cylinder with 185 hp works under the hood of the Uni-V. Sounds pretty decent, but compared to that RS7 performance it's more of a purr than a roar. The Audi accommodates one BiTurbo 4,0 liter V8 with mighty 600 PS.

Tuning fail with a third of the power

The end result of the tuning odyssey is a Changan UNI-V that, with its new front fascia, looks like it has put in an oversized set of teeth. Tuners might consider it a success, but most car enthusiasts would probably consider it one misstep describe. The moral lesson here: Not everything that looks like an Audi also drives like an Audi! We know, of course, that "Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder". However, we have examined the vehicle extensively and have come to the conclusion that it definitely belongs in our tuning fail category because WE do not consider it beautiful. What is your opinion about this? Beautiful or not so beautiful? Please leave a comment here!

Of course, that wasn't the end of it!
