Crazy, this Chevrolet C3 Corvette has turned into a motorsport-inspired trackday weapon. And the team from is responsible for that Detroit Speed. For years they have been building some of the best accessory chassis and suspension parts for vintage cars with muscle car ambitions and classics. And AutopiaLA was allowed to take a look around on site and try out the C3. One of the first vehicles that Detroit Speed AutopiaLA became aware of was this C3 Corvette as a development car. It is a vehicle for the racetrack that has received specially developed chassis parts and other components. Under the hood of the gun, which was apparently inspired by old B-Production Corvette racing cars, is a 6,0l LS2 V8 engine. With a few improvements, the modern small block from General Motors has around 500 hp on the crankshaft.

The engine is attached to a manual, close-ratio, dog-ring gearbox with a close gear ratio. And the 500 PS LS2 vacuum cleaner is more than sufficient, as handling was the main focus of this vehicle. Other changes include a Detroit Speed Ten-Link setup on the rear axle with remote reservoir dampers, massive 335 tires at the rear and powerful 315 slippers at the front, and with a curb weight of 1,4 tons, the Vette is relatively light. The interior featured bucket seats with billet headrests, a suede steering wheel from Max Papis Industries, and a bare metal gear lever. The highlight, however, are the flared fenders, which are similar to those of the legendary C3 Corvette L88, the L88 replica hood, sidepipes and the chic aluminum rims with drop center.
