And the goal was pretty simple! Hennessey wanted to be the first in the new Vette with mid-engine to drive more than 200 miles per hour (approx. 322 km / h). And actually you would think that this is not really a problem, because after all, a standard C8 already runs 312 km / h (194 mp / h). But in order to mobilize an additional 20 km / h in the final speed, an increase in output from 502 to over 600 hp is required. Because the air resistance at such speeds is significantly higher and requires an exponential increase in performance.

For the test vehicle with the optional Z51 package (Performance Brembo brake system, performance exhaust, performance rear axle ratio, electronic differential lock with limited slip, Z51 rear spoiler, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires 245 / 35ZR19 front and 305 / 30ZR20 rear, reinforced cooling system, performance suspension with Magnetic Selective Ride Control) was removed for the record run of the Z51 rear spoiler, which however makes the Corvette run a little more restlessly at higher speeds. And then there would be the additional NOS power punch of 135 hp at the push of a button and the in-house sports exhaust system mentioned. In combination with the Hennessey exhaust system, the power is increased to a good 650 hp (485 kW), which the new V.-Max. should enable. And the result is even higher than expected at 205 miles per hour (approx. 330 km / h). Incidentally, the drivers were at the Continental Tires Proving Ground in Uvalde (Texas) and unofficially this is now a world record for the C8.
