528 PS & 634 NM in the Cupra Formentor VZ5 from HGP!

VW wanted him, Cupra has him! What are we talking about? Of course from VW EA855 evo five-cylinder from the new Audi RS3! Volkswagen would like to have that in the Golf R (MK8) stuffed, but was not allowed and has therefore opted for the VW EA888 four-cylinder with 320 hp. Apparently that wasn't a problem for the newbie Cupra from Spain. Because they got the engine from Audi and without further ado in the brand new and limited to 7.000 vehicles VZ5 transplanted. There he is with me 390 PS & 480 NM a bit weaker than in the RS3 (400 PS & 500 NM), which is only noticeable in the driving performance in the decimal place. And the VZ5 from the following video from the YouTuber and Petrolhead Motor OliTV can only smile wearily about the RS3, and especially the Golf R. Because this VZ5 was from the HGP Turbonachrüstung GmbH with a first increase in performance (Stage 2) fitted. And MotorOliTV (Oliver Gmeinder) was allowed to try it.

528 PS & 634 NM torque

Currently the performance of the HGP VZ5 is exactly 528 PS & 634 NM torque, which of course is an announcement. And another announcement is the fact that HGP is not finished yet. They're already working on one Stage 3 upgrade to over 600 hp. But we come to Stage 2 tuning. What exactly did HGP do?

Even the first glance shows that something has also been done visually on the vehicle. Namely, he is by means of KW coilover kit lowered by a good 30 millimeters. And that doesn't just look good, it also lets the VZ5 go around the corner a bit more quickly. But the core is clearly the performance increase from the 2,5-liter five-cylinder. He got chic red elements donated and from a technical point of view a modified one aspiration and of course one HGP chip tuning software. And HGP is probably the first tuner ever to "crack" and modify the new five-cylinder control unit. At least we don't know anyone else (as of February 05.02.2022th, XNUMX).

Stage 2 with series turbocharger

The turbocharger is in Stage 2 tuning by the way still completely original. But that will change with Stage 3. And what does the current HGP upgrade bring in numbers? The Spaniard does not complete the sprint from standing to country road speed in 4,2, but now in About 3,6 seconds (with series transmission software) and the discipline from 100 to 200 is after about 7,5 to 7,7 seconds (Series about 13 seconds) completed. And finally, there would be the top speed, and that goes far beyond the electronically limited 250 km/h ex works. According to the speedometer, the HGP VZ5 runs mightily 317 km/h. Impressive numbers that build the excitement Stage 3 naturally increase. We are curious ... PS: Many thanks again to MotorOliTV for the information and for providing the video.
