Restomod 1972 DeTomaso Pantera in widebody GT5 style!

The De Tomaso Pantera is a legendary sports car produced by the Italian manufacturer De Tomaso from 1971 to 1993. It was the successor to the Mangusta and was characterized by a wedge-shaped design, a powerful Ford V8 engine and a high level of everyday usability. The Pantera was primarily designed for the North American market and was sold there through the Lincoln Mercury dealer network. One of the most interesting examples is this black 1972 Custom DeTomaso Pantera that was recently sold by the seller coriseki808 on the platform Bring a trailer was sold under auction number #105080. The unique specimen has been extensively modified optically and also has numerous technical improvements such as a coilover suspension, which makes it a real eye-catcher.

DeTomaso Pantera Widebody

The body was made with a GT5 style body kit which includes wider fiberglass fenders, side skirts, a rear spoiler, a front spoiler and two air intakes on the hood. The paint finish is deep black, which contrasts with the 18-inch alloy wheels with XXL deep bed and polished surface, as well as the red 4-piston brake calipers. The wheel set is equipped with 335 slippers at the rear. The side windows are gone, instead there are additional air intakes that ensure better cooling of the mid-engine. The powerplant is a replacement 351ci V8 (Robert Yates Racing Engines Tuning, 5,8L) fitted with a single plane intake manifold, Holley carburetor, C3 aluminum cylinder heads, 180 degree headers and a custom Dual exhaust system was fitted. The exact performance is not known, but it should be significantly higher than the original 330 hp.

The engine is also coupled to a ZF five-speed manual transmission with an open carbon shift gate (gated shifter). Incidentally, the interior is lined with black leather and has a particularly sporty character. A MOMO sports steering wheel, bucket seats, a dashboard with classic Veglia round instruments, an Alpine stereo sound system and electric windows are part of the equipment. The seats are embroidered with De Tomaso logos and the door panels have integrated modern speakers. According to the seller, the Pantera has been regularly serviced and has 66.000 miles (approx. 106.217 km) on the clock, although the actual mileage is unknown. It was sold on April 23, 2023 for $128.000, which is a steep price for the tuned classic.
