455 PS & 790 NM in the Edo Motorsport BMW i8 CSL-R!

On June 11.06, 2012, the last BMW i8 rolled off the assembly line in Leipzig! It was an elegant roadster in Portimao Blue that completed the production started in 2014 with exactly 20.500 vehicles from the plug-in hybrid athlete. Incidentally, the vehicle belonged to a total of 18 cars that were built according to the individual wishes of the members of the BMW i8 Club and in some cases differed significantly from the customarily available configurations. However, none of them had more to offer with the well-known B38K15T0 three-cylinder than the standard 374 hp and 570 NM of the lifted variant. On the other hand, it looks quite different with this example from the tuner Edo Motorsport from Switzerland that the M Carbon Ceramic brake system with forged 6-piston brake calipers, new racing brake pads, 400 mm discs in front and 380 mm discs in the back including M5 Performance caliper shows. And the brake has a reason!

The athlete known as BMW i8 CSL-R (Coupé Sport Light - Racing) has received an increase in performance to powerful 455 PS & 790 NM torque. After all, that's a plus of 81 hp and 220 Nm of torque compared to the series, which, in combination with a lightweight aerodynamics package made of carbon in jet black, ensures a lot of driving pleasure. The turbo three-cylinder in the rear received a new turbocharger, there was also a modified intake and a different exhaust system is installed. The new components are combined with a specially adapted chip tuning. In addition, the coupé was painted in the chic Le Mans Blue Metallic, which was available for the 3 Series E90, the 1 Series or the E46 M3, but never for the much newer i8! There was also Alcantara in the interior in a matching color as well as sporty Recaro bucket seats of the type Poleposition Carbon and to do justice to the CSL-R note, Edo built another one LiteBlox starter battery (saves 13 kg) and the already mentioned carbon body components.

The 2,6kg light front splitter, the side skirts and the 3-channel diffuser are made of the ultra-light material and our secret highlight is the carbon rear window replacement. There was also a new set of wheels with Michelin Cup 2 tires and lighter alloy wheels in black. And the chassis was also tampered with. For an even sportier pace, the tuner installed tight sport springs that also bring a lowering by 10 millimeters at the front and rear. Incidentally, with an i8 Procar and an i8 RSL, the tuner has two other hot vehicles as roadsters and as pure competition vehicles at the start. The 2020 i8 Procar LCI coupe the project vehicle mentioned even seems to have received an increase in output to almost 500 hp and 890 NM, which is reduced by just 1.438 kg (- approx. 157 kg). And the i8RSL is said to be the fastest i8 roadster. We believe that immediately!
