It is almost becoming a classic, the Corvette C1997 presented in 5. Originally, the market launch of the C5 was planned for 1993, and thus for the 40th anniversary. Due to internal problems at General Motors, the whole thing was delayed significantly, so that the successor model of the legendary Corvette C6 (since Spring 1983) was officially presented. In the spring of 1997, GM began selling and shipping. Basically, components such as the removable roof, the front-mounted V8 and the rear-wheel drive were the same as with the C3, but the new Vette was nevertheless completely redesigned. In fact, it was the first really newly developed model in the history of the Corvette. Before, parts from other GM models had always been used, this time not. And visually everything was different. The “fifth generation” got a completely new design, there was a new frame, more power thanks to a 350 hp V8 made of aluminum alloy and also a new chassis.

In addition, significantly higher quality materials were used compared to the C3 and the quality of workmanship was also improved. Nevertheless, the appearance in the interior in particular cannot be equated with vehicles from Germany built at the time. It was the typical time when everything had to be made of gray & black plastic and this was not only consistently adhered to at General Motors but also at other manufacturers. The tuner Envy Factor from Halstenbek (Schleswig-Holstein) has taken on this problem and completely revised the interior of a C5. The whole thing is called "The Yellowjacket Project" and is based on the paintwork on the outside. The entire dashboard has been revised, which is now covered with leather and sporty set off by a yellow seam. In general, this yellow seam can be found on every revised detail and this is also the case with the steering wheel, which is also covered with noble Alcantara.

The door panels, the A-pillars and the center console were also covered with leather & Alcantara. In addition, there were also a few carbon applications and the result was a significantly sportier and higher quality interior that certainly keeps up with the current models in terms of workmanship. Apart from the revised interior, nothing seems to have changed on the C5, so we leave you alone with the pictures at this point. 🙂 If we do get some information about important changes, there is of course an update for this post. You will be informed about the update when you get ours Feed subscribed. We hope you enjoy watching.
