2024 - News on the camping horizon! Westfalia is bringing a breath of fresh air to the coming 2024 camping season with a fresh makeover of its Fiat Ducato camper models, the popular Columbus. The "Van" is already part of the name Columbus. As a constant companion in the Westfalia product range, the Ducato camper is now getting a decent update. Look forward to exciting improvements in the 2023/24 model year. The four Columbus versions have a completely revised kitchen whose new look immediately catches the eye. A highlight is the integrated 90-liter refrigerator, which can be opened from the inside and outside. Perfect for all outdoor foodies who want to prep food, not climb in the vehicle. Even the cutlery drawer can be opened from the outside.
Kitchen update - More space for treats
A flat work surface, a 2-burner gas cooker-sink combination and three push-lock drawers complete the kitchen. An apothecary cupboard with three metal baskets next to the kitchen and new roof storage compartments serve as extra storage space. The latter can be particularly emphasized with the optional “tunable white” lighting system. This is complemented by on-board technology of the latest generation! So we come to electronics and technology. All elements of the living area can be controlled with a central touch display. This is possible thanks to the integration of the CI bus system.
But the new Columbus is not only a dream when the sun is shining. The heating system is upgraded with stepless Eberspächer diesel heating and hot water preparation. The underfloor heating known from the previous model, which is also installed in the bathroom, is retained. The heating temperature can be easily regulated via the touch display, ideal for turning down the heating at night. In addition, Westfalia offers a winter package with insulating mats for the windbreak and rear door and a heatable waste water tank.
More extras and equipment packages
The camper van comes ready to go, so no extras are required. However, if you want even more luxury in the Columbus, you can order a light package, a larger on-board battery with 150 Ah or safety packages with lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking system or intelligent cruise control and adaptive cruise control from Westfalia. In addition, a bed conversion for the front bench seat is possible. A cold foam mattress creates a 180×90 centimeter lying surface. Leather seat covers, a Skyview panoramic roof, a satellite system or a solar module are also available as options. Prices start at €64.900 for the base model and €68.750 for the largest model. And those who opt for more power and choose the 180 hp engine will get it with an automatic transmission.
There are four different layouts in the model series: The Columbus 540 D is the smallest at 5,41 meters and comes with a transverse bed in the rear. An almost identical floor plan can be found in the 5,99 meter long Columbus 600 D, but without the tapered foot end of the transverse bed. The Columbus 600 E is also 5,99 meters long and features single beds in the rear. The largest example, the Columbus 640 E, scores with single beds and a length of 6,36 meters. The Westfalia Columbus camping vans are starting the 2024 model season with a modern outfit and improved technology. If the quality of the interior design remains as good as one is used to from Westfalia, the Columbus seems to be a strong offer due to its high-quality equipment.
Of course, that wasn't the end of it!
