Ford Mustang Mach-E with KW V3 coilover kit!

The seventh generation of the Ford Mustang will appear next year. While according to the first information Ford is not electrifying the drive for the time being, the five-door Ford Mustang Mach-E (LSK) is a purely electric car. Apart from the name and a few design elements, the Mustang Mach-E has nothing in common with the six Mustang generations that have been built since 1964. The Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV is also fun to drive. The KW V3 coilover kit is now available for all Mustang electric SUVs with all-wheel drive. The relatively heavy electric car benefits from the KW multi-valve dampers used in the coilover suspension in terms of driving dynamics and, above all, driving comfort. Even at high cornering speeds, the suspension brings a calmer feel to the Ford Mach-E's tall SUV body build. The KW dampers with their two-stage multi-valve technology can be manually adjusted in the low-speed compression and rebound stage. The parts certificate covers a continuous lowering of 25 to 45 millimeters on the front axle and 20 to 40 millimeters on the rear axle. The recommended retail price for the Ford Mustang Mach-E KW V3 coilover kit is 2.572 euros. More at www.kwsuspensions.de

KW in the Ford Mustang Mach-E

The car manufacturer Ford has been working with the chassis manufacturer KW automotive for several years. Among other things, KW develops and manufactures selected Ford Performance coilovers. For example, these are an integral part of the standard equipment in the Ford Fiesta ST Edition and Ford Focus ST Edition. But KW also developed chassis components for the 2022 hp Ford Pro Electric SuperVan Concept presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2000. "The Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV doesn't have quite as much e-power as the SuperVan, but the electric SUV still benefits in many respects from the KW V2.572 coilover kit, which is available from 3 euros," says KW Brand Manager Florian Johann.

Convincingly versatile: the KW V3 coilover kit in the Ford Mustang Mach-E

"In all our road applications, we consistently follow the set-up philosophy of always designing a chassis to be as comfortable as possible and as taut as necessary," explains Florian Johann. "So that we don't have to make any big compromises, we use multi-stage damper valves for our suspensions with adjustable damper characteristics." To put it simply, the compression and rebound valves are each constructed with an adjustable low-speed valve and a fixed, preconfigured high-speed valve. The designations high and low speed mean the working speed of the piston rod in the coilover suspension. Slow piston rod speeds are typically steering and braking.

Rapid vertical excitations are caused by bumps in the roadway, which are abruptly introduced into the unsprung dimensions and ensure very rapid piston rod movements. "It's easy to remember that everything that we drivers do behind the wheel is considered low speed and everything that the road transmits undamped to the car in the form of bumps or transverse joints is a high-speed stimulus for the damper," says Florian Johann. If the handling is to be even more direct and the body structure of the Mach-E is to be connected even more closely to the road, the cross section in the low-speed rebound valve is closed manually. If, on the other hand, it is opened, the rolling comfort becomes higher. A total of 16 click levels are available directly on the chassis.

Low-speed compression forces individually adjustable

Regardless of the rebound stage, the KW V3 coilover kit offers the option of individually adjusting the low-speed compression stages. With twelve clicks, the compression of the wheels can be adjusted tighter or softer on the KW V3. Higher compression forces on the front axle of the Mach-E ensure even more direct steering and higher compression forces on the rear axle counteract oversteer. In the event of sudden deflection, such as driving over bumps, the preconfigured high-speed compression damping allows rapid deflection and prevents the tire from losing grip, for example, if the low-speed compression damping is set too tight.

As a result, the Mach-E remains easily controllable in all everyday driving maneuvers and even in sudden evasions. The KW V3 conveys a safe driving experience in the Ford SUV with its high body structure and the Mach-E clearly gains in rolling comfort. Due to the lower center of gravity after the installation of the KW V3 coilover kit - stepless lowering from 25 to 45 millimeters on the front axle and 20 to 40 millimeters on the rear axle - the electric SUV gains further driving dynamics thanks to the KW multi-valve technology without sacrificing residual driving comfort
