2020 Ford Transit Connect as MS-RT R120 Special Edition!

A practical Ford Transit Connect as a collector's vehicle? There is now maybe! Because whether it becomes a collector's item or not, ultimately depends on the Ford fans. Curtain up for them Limited Edition MS-RT R120 from Ford Van Sport. You don't know MS-RT? Then you are probably not necessarily interested in commercial vehicles. Not entirely incomprehensible, as we think. But in the world of commercial vehicles from Ford, the company, as a merger of Van-Sport and Malcolm Wilson, is virtually unique. After all, it has direct links to a world rally team. And this is now shown in a special edition variant of the Ford Transit Connect with the surname "R120" from Rallye M-Sport. No more than 30 copies are sold in mainland UK and 6 of them are destined for Northern Ireland. The R120 built by Pontypool is based on the already modified Connect base from MS-RT and shows itself with the familiar thicker aprons.

white OZ Racing forged wheels

But the R120 stands on white OZ Racing forged rims and articulates itself “inside” via a fake sports exhaust system with four tailpipes “outside”. On request, the system comes with a sound function from Maxhaust Tech and is controlled by an app. The sound of a sports exhaust is played through the van’s integrated speakers in the interior. Black mirror caps and bi-xenon headlights are still installed. And there is also a “Frozen White” paint finish for the R120 with a decor package in black and red. In the interior, the loading truck impresses with leather seats with red stitching, there is a carbon sports steering wheel with a red 12 o'clock mark and in technical terms Ford Pass Connect, cruise control and a wireless charging pad are included. There is also no need to do without a built-in reversing camera and two sliding doors. Access to the loading area is thus made much easier, as is reversing. Like the regular Connect, the R120 can also be ordered as a two or three-seater.

no 2,3 liter EcoBoost under the hood

Unfortunately, MS-RT doesn't improve the R120's drivetrain. The 2,3 liter EcoBoost would have been perfect. Instead, it stays with the 118 hp 1,5 liter turbo diesel and it stays with the standard six-speed manual transmission. But at least the Ford automatic can be optionally installed on request. Prices start at £ 25.995 plus VAT for a total of £ 31.194 with tax (approx. 35.000 euros). Not cheap for a 118 hp van. But maybe it will become a collector's item.
