Did you know that it took just 2 years for Honda to discontinue the fourth generation of the Civic Type R (FK2 - 2015-2017) with 310 PS & 400 NM torque. The FK8 has been available since this year and, compared to its predecessor, has been completely redeveloped. The main focus is on an increase in performance to 320 PS, a sophisticated but also very spacey aerodynamic package and a particularly low center of gravity. And for exactly that, the Asian tuner Progressive SR has now developed an extensive widebody kit. From the factory, the Civic with its narrow headlights, the new Aircurtains, the air scoop and all other fins, spoilers and the diffuser is anything but inconspicuous but when it comes down to it Progressive SR there is still a lot of scope.

So a completely new front bumper was developed which, including a radiator grille in a honeycomb design, gives the MK8 an even more dynamic appearance. The large front spoiler in particular should provide a lot of additional contact pressure. In our opinion, you could have done without the optional headlight covers, but if you don't want them, you don't have to install them. And a widebody kit would not be a widebody kit if it weren't for powerful attachments for the front and rear fenders. Here, components were developed that are placed on the standard fenders and widen the Civic by approx. 5 cm on each side. In addition, the front attachments have air openings in the area of the doors. The design is a little reminiscent of the predecessor and in our opinion this is particularly clear with the attachments at the front.

Of course there are also new side skirts and small components that are applied to the edges of the rear doors to allow a transition to the extensions for the rear side walls. And the tail is anything but unchanged because here too there is a new bumper adapted to the lateral widening and also brings a powerful diffuser. On request, it is even possible to order a discreet spoiler lip for the tailgate and this should probably be the most discreet component of the body kit.

As far as we know, the body kit can be used for both the Type R and the normal Civic and the various grille inserts for the front bumper or the optional hood with side gills offer even more options for the Japanese. If we receive new details about the changes, there will of course, as always, be an update for this report.
