Pat Moss Edition MINI 3-door and MINI 5-door!

Racing is in the genes of the MINI, the greatest successes in the history of the brand have been achieved on the rally track. And the foundation for this was laid by an exceptional driver. In May 1962, the classic Mini entered the list of winners of an international rally event for the first time. At the International Tulip Rally, which ran from the Dutch municipality of Noordwijk to the French Riviera and back again, Pat Moss steered the classic Mini Cooper along the route in record time. 60 years later, MINI celebrates the talent, courage and passion of the British pilot with a fascinating special edition. The Pat Moss Edition for the MINI 3-door and the MINI 5-door, limited to just over 800 vehicles, not only commemorates the start of the extraordinary sporting career of the classic Mini, but also a pioneering achievement for woman power in motorsport. Because with the success in the Netherlands, both the classic Mini and Pat Moss and her co-driver Ann Wisdom irrevocably became heroines in a discipline dominated on the one hand by significantly larger vehicles and on the other hand completely by men.

2022 Pat Moss Edition

Unconventional design features and stylish details characterize the Pat Moss Edition, which will be available from May 2022 for the MINI Cooper S 3-door, the MINI Cooper S 5-door and the MINI John Cooper Works. With their 131 kW/178 hp or 170 kW/231 hp (MINI John Cooper Works) four-cylinder turbo engines, they ensure exciting, sporty driving pleasure in everyday traffic. The exclusive design of the edition models quotes both the racing history of the British premium brand and the sporting career of Pat Moss and Ann Wisdom.

another variant of the Multitone Roof

It also integrates MINI product innovations such as the multitone roof. For the first time, another variant of the Multitone Roof is available for the Pat Moss Edition. The color gradient of the vehicle roof ranges from Chilli Red to Melting Silver to Jet Black. With the innovative painting process, which is fully integrated into the production process at the MINI plant in Oxford, a second color variant will be realized for the first time and will be available for customers to order from March 2022. Minimal deviations in the color pattern caused by changing environmental conditions ensure that every MINI with Multitone Roof already has the character of a unique specimen through the paintwork in the factory. In the new edition models, the charismatic roof paintwork is combined with the body colors Pepper White non-metallic or Midnight Black metallic and with red exterior mirror caps.

A stylized tulip serves as a symbol for the first rally victory and the location of the early triumph, which is applied together with the lettering "Pat Moss" both on the C-pillars of the edition vehicles and on the side scuttles. The wheel hub caps also have an exclusive design with a graphic developed from the outlines of the flower typical of the Netherlands and the word mark MINI. Below the side scuttles on the front side walls, the most important facts about the Tulip Rally of 1962 are also listed: the route Noordwijk - Monte Carlo - Noordwijk, the distance of 2 kilometers, the vehicle, a Mini Cooper, and its starting number 500 In addition, the characterization that still applies to MINI today: "born to compete". The tulip motif, the name lettering and the key information about the first victorious rally can also be found on the screen-printed aluminum door sill panels designed exclusively for the edition model.

horizontal bonnet stripe

Another design element used for the first time for the Pat Moss Edition is the horizontally aligned bonnet stripe in white. The printed combination of numbers and letters – 737 ABL – in three-dimensional letters corresponds to the number plate of the classic Mini that won the 1962 tulip rally and is therefore a reminiscence of the historical role model. The original signature that Pat Moss wrote on the bonnet of her vehicle after one of her victories adorns the front apron of the edition model as a graphic imprint. Inside the edition vehicles, the iconic signature on the Piano Black interior surface in the passenger area is reminiscent of the revolutionary rally driver who died in 2008. The sports leather steering wheel bears the edition emblem in the form of a tulip graphic on the clip of the lower spoke. The abstract depiction of engine pistons moving up and down serves as the motif for a graphic for the interior surface on the driver's side. Their bars of different heights form the shape of the letters "M" and a "W", representing "Moss" and "Wisdom" and a symbol of a perfectly coordinated duo that caused a sensation in the rally scene for many years.

a tribute to a pioneer of racing

The MINI Pat Moss Edition pays homage to a pioneer of racing, MINI's rally history and true team spirit. One of the notable details of the first rally success for the classic Mini is the fact that Ann Wisdom, despite her pregnancy, did not want to miss out on starting the Tulip Rally and her team colleague Pat Moss unerringly guided her over the 2-kilometer route. Together, Mossie and Wizz, as they were called in the paddock, formed a successful duo for seven years. The two women had the courage to compete in a male-dominated sport and fundamentally change it. Pat Moss, younger sister of Formula 500 driver Stirling Moss, also won the Sestriere Rally in Italy in 1, finished on the podium in numerous other international competitions and won the women's classification five times in the European Rally Championship.

Overall victory of the Monte Carlo Rally 64, 65, 67

Ann Wisdom is considered the first professional co-driver in the history of rallying. Both viewed their courageous advance into a male domain with the self-image of successful female athletes and with typical British understatement. "We didn't see ourselves as pioneers back then," Ann Wisdom said years later. "We just drove a rally." Pat Moss and Ann Wisdom paved the way for an extraordinary career for the classic Mini. In the years 1964, 1965 and 1967, the British small car won the overall victory in the Monte Carlo Rally. Decades later, MINI became the dominant brand in the world's most demanding long-distance rally. From 2012 to 2015, MINI won the Dakar Rally four times in a row. Two more overall wins followed in 2020 and 2021.
