With the sporty GTS models, the 911 range has an attractive addition around two and a half years after the market launch of the 992. Porsche first presented the 911 as a GTS model twelve years ago. The new generation of the popular sports car model is now starting - more powerful, dynamic and visually independent than ever before. The six-cylinder boxer engine develops 353 kW (480 hp). That is 22 kW (30 PS) more than the current 911 Carrera S or the previous 911 GTS.
Five model variants are now available at prices starting at 140.981 euros:
- 911 Carrera GTS with rear-wheel drive, as a coupé and convertible
- 911 Carrera 4 GTS with all-wheel drive, as a coupé and convertible, and the
- 911 Targa 4 GTS with all-wheel drive.
Porsche 911 GTS models
An eight-speed Porsche double clutch transmission (PDK) or a seven-speed manual transmission as well as a GTS-specific chassis with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and the high-performance brake of the 911 Turbo ensure superior power transmission. The lightweight construction package², which is available for the first time for the GTS, improves driving dynamics even further. The weight saving is up to 25 kilograms.
Black contrast elements on the body and darkened areas of the headlights characterize the discreet sporty look of the new members of the 911 family. Black is also the dominant color in the interior. Numerous items made from Race-Tex microfiber material ensure an ambience that is as dynamic as it is elegant. The latest generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) features numerous improvements in operation and connectivity.
Technology: independent chassis and specific sports exhaust system
The turbocharged, three-liter six-cylinder boxer engine in the new 911 GTS has an output of 353 kW (480 hp). The maximum torque is 570 Nm, an increase of 20 Nm compared to its predecessor. For the standard sprint from zero to 100 km / h, the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupé with eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) takes just 3,3 seconds. It is three tenths faster than its predecessor. As an alternative to the PDK, a seven-speed manual transmission with particularly short shift travel is available for all 911 GTS.
The chassis, which is derived from the 911 Turbo and tailored to the GTS, meets high performance requirements: thanks to the standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), the dampers react in a flash to dynamic changes. In the Coupé and Cabriolet, the PASM is combined as standard with the sports suspension, which has been lowered by ten millimeters. The concept with helper springs on the rear axle also comes from the turbo models: this means that the main springs are under tension in all driving conditions. The downstroke is retained. The chassis of the 911 Targa 4 S is used in the 911 Targa 4 GTS.
The engineers have also adapted the delay performance to the increased performance of the GTS. He trusts the high-performance brakes of the 911 Turbo. The 911 (front) and 20-inch (rear) black light-alloy wheels with central locking come from the 21 Turbo S. The standard sports exhaust system ensures an even more emotional sound experience thanks to GTS-specific tuning and the omission of part of the interior insulation.
Exterior: numerous black accents in silk or high gloss
Numerous black or darkened details on the exterior are typical of the 911 GTS, including the characteristic temple with Targa lettering of the 911 Targa 4 GTS. Other elements painted in black silk gloss are the lip of the front spoiler, the light alloy wheels with central locking, the GTS logos on the doors and on the rear, the slats of the trunk lid grille and the two tailpipe trims of the sports exhaust system. An exterior package can optionally be selected in which these and other details are finished in high-gloss black.
In principle, all 911 GTS models have the Sport Design package with independent cladding for the front, side sills and rear. The standard LED main headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) have a darkened rim on the headlights and the surround of the daytime running lights. Independent lights are used at the rear.
Lightweight package: less weight, more downforce
The lightweight construction package³, available for the first time for the GTS, improves driving dynamics even further. The weight savings are up to 25 kilograms thanks to the lightweight full bucket seats made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), lightweight glass on the side and rear windows and a lightweight battery. Furthermore, the rear seat system is omitted. In addition, there are performance optimizations through the rear-axle steering, which is standard in this equipment combination, and additional aerodynamic fine-tuning.
Interior: black Race-Tex and sports seats Plus as standard
The sporty accents of the GTS models are continued in the interior - both functionally and visually: the gear lever of the optionally available seven-speed manual transmission has been shortened by ten millimeters. This enables quick gear changes from the wrist. GT sports steering wheel and Sport Chrono Package with mode switch, Porsche Track Precision app and a tire temperature display are standard equipment. The standard sports seats Plus with electric four-way adjustment ensure lateral support and comfort. The insulation in the interior has been reduced, which acoustically reinforces the emotional driving impression.
Numerous black Race-Tex items underline the dynamic, elegant ambience. The microfiber material can be found on the center panels of the seats, on the steering wheel rim, on the handles and armrests of the door panels, on the lid of the storage compartment and on the gear lever. With the GTS interior package, the decorative seams are available in either carmine red or chalk. The seat belts, the embroidered GTS lettering on the headrests and the dials of the rev counter and Sport Chrono watch also have the respective contrasting color. The inlay on the dashboard, center console and door panels in the GTS interior package is made of carbon (matt).
New display and operating concept: now also with Android Auto
The new generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) is characterized by additional functions and significantly simplified operation. The touch areas in the media menu have been enlarged. The new option is to rearrange the tiles on the home screen. The improved voice assistant recognizes natural language and can be activated with "Hey Porsche". iOS and Android users also enjoy full connectivity: With Apple Car Play® and the new Android Auto, the functions of the corresponding mobile phones can be used in full in the new Porsche 911 GTS models.
