In addition to the permanent exhibition, the ŠKODA Museum in Mladá Boleslav can now see the special exhibition '120 Years of ŠKODA Motorsport', which brings visitors closer to ŠKODA AUTO's most important motorsport successes. With numerous exhibits, interesting information walls and interactive elements, fans of the brand have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of races and rallies. The special exhibition runs until March 20, 2022. Andrea Frydlová, Head of the ŠKODA Museum in Mladá Boleslav, says: “With the new special exhibition '120 Years of ŠKODA Motorsport', ŠKODA AUTO is commemorating the long series of its motorsport successes. The starting gun was fired on June 27, 1901 in Paris: Narcis Podsedníček entered the three-day race to Berlin on a Laurin & Klement motorcycle.
120 years of Skoda Motorsport
Numerous victories, world championship titles, speed records and other triumphs of his successors up to the current works team ŠKODA Motorsport followed with the rally vehicles of the type FABIA Rally2 evo. This year's Museum Night on September 24th is also dedicated to the topic of motorsport, for example with guided tours through the new exhibition of the Czech automobile manufacturer. The collection complements a unique 'Wall of Fame' with a large selection of trophies.
Five original racing vehicles as highlights of the special exhibition
The single-cylinder motocyclette Laurin & Klement BZ from 1903 on display dates from the early days of motorsport and the L&K FC (1909) represents the company's first generation of racing cars. The ŠKODA SPORT with its low, open aluminum body took part in the legendary Le Mans 24-hour race (1950). The past 30 years of motorsport at ŠKODA AUTO are represented by the two rally vehicles, the ŠKODA OCTAVIA WRC (2003) and the ŠKODA FABIA R5 (2019). The exclusive collection is complemented by the ŠKODA 130 RS (1978) and the ŠKODA FABIA S 2000 (2015) from the museum's permanent exhibition. Further motorsport vehicles from ŠKODA AUTO can be seen in consultation with the museum's visitor service in a separate hall next to the publicly accessible museum.
The ŠKODA Museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 17 p.m.
A rally simulator also ensures a real motorsport atmosphere. At the same time, visitors can take a close look at the racing suits worn by today's rally drivers. An interactive quiz on the Czech manufacturer's motorsport successes is also part of the exhibition, which will complement the permanent exhibition in the ŠKODA Museum in Mladá Boleslav until March 20, 2022. The ŠKODA Museum in Mladá Boleslav is open daily from 9 a.m. to 17 p.m. With a discounted combination ticket, you can combine a visit to the museum with a tour of the Ferdinand Porsche birthplace in Liberec-Vratislavice.
