ŠKODA Design reinterprets the concept of the ŠKODA 1100 OHC from 1957 and, with the computer-animated design model VISION GT, shows the study of a purely electric racing car made in Mladá Boleslav. Like its historical model, the design concept can be seen in the exhibition 'Design and Transformation'. It is currently taking place in Brussels and is part of the supporting program of the EU Presidency of the Czech Republic. The computer-animated design model ŠKODA VISION GT is one of the highlights of the 'Design and Transformation' exhibition in Brussels. On the occasion of the Czech Republic's EU Presidency, numerous Czech companies are presenting products and designs from 1990 to 2020. For the VISION GT model, the ŠKODA Design team was inspired by the ŠKODA 1100 OHC from 1957. With it, the automobile manufacturer sets a clear signal for sustainable sportiness and emotion in the digital age. The digital VISION GT stands in the tradition of the 'Icons Get a Makeover' series, which also includes icons from the company's history such as the 130 RS, the FELICIA or the RAPID MONTE CARLO.
ŠKODA VISION GT
Like the 1100 OHC, the VISION GT is a red, open racing car. However, the draft design is designed as a single-seater, with the driver sitting in the middle of the vehicle. Above the futuristic carbon steering wheel, which is flattened at the top and bottom, is a flat screen bar that also serves as a windscreen. Important information is projected directly onto the driver's helmet visor, similar to a head-up display. An active driver's cockpit with a flexibly suspended seat optimally balances g-forces. The exterior of the flat VISION GT is characterized by clear lines and sharp edges. The design is reminiscent of current Formula E racing cars, which is particularly illustrated by the spectacularly designed, two-piece rear wing. Active aerodynamics ensure optimal driving performance at all times. The new ŠKODA word mark shines in bright red as a hologram between the two upper wing profiles. The VISION GT also bears the lettering on the very flat front, quoting the curved ŠKODA line. The exhibition 'Design and Transformation' can be seen at the Design Museum in Brussels until January 8, 2023, with some exhibits also on display at Prague House in Brussels until October 2, 2022.
