In our eyes, that is VW Golf 5 GTI Pirelli definitely to be called a collector's item. And even if many think that the Pirelli GTI does exist not only in the color yellow! 😉 After a break of 24 years, VW showed the new version of the Pirelli GTI at Lake Wörthersee in 2007 and it was really well received. The price, with at least € 30.175, but rather less. At least a thousand over the GTI Edition 30 and then there is not even more engine power. But the equipment package of the Pirelli has a lot more to offer. Cool and very eye-catching seats with tire tread embossing in the Pirelli profile, yellow decorative stitching in the entire interior, headrests with Pirelli lettering or a 3-spoke sports steering wheel. And there are plenty of Pirelli on the outside too! Lettering, standard Pirelli P Zero TM 225/40 R 18 tires and aluminum rims in 7,5J x 18 inches. With 230 PS, according to the speedometer, 250 km / h are easily possible, even if VW specifies a Vmax of only 245 km / h. And the guys from ML Concept had just such a GTI on site and it shines in the classic sunflower yellow (surcharge at that time € 1.115,00). However, the exclusive edition was not exclusive enough for the owner and so it was decided to lend a hand.
The highlight is of course the unmistakable 3-part 3SDM 3.19 wheel set which, with the dimensions 8,5 × 19 inches including 225 / 35-19 tires, fills the wheel arches a lot more than the standard 18-inch models. But a GTI includes lowering like that Ketchup with the fries 😇! Here it was decided to lower the vehicle significantly using the HP Drivetech Airride air suspension, which can be variably adjusted at the push of a button, thus enabling the GTI to be maneuvered safely into various parking garages and over poor roads. And the standard 230 PS did not remain untouched thanks to HG Motorsport intake and chip tuning software and so the GTI should now be on the way towards 260-280 PS. If we get even more information about the modifications to the VW Golf 5 GTI Pirelli, there is of course, as always, an update for this report.
