A VW Lamando is largely unknown in Germany. This compact sedan, which is an ideal competitor for the Mercedes CLA, is celebrating great success on the Chinese market. The vehicle is mostly bought by yuppies and young, car-loving men and women who are looking for an alternative to an Audi A3 or a BMW 2 Series Sedan. However, this 4,60 m long limo is also ideal as a tuning object, and is therefore often refined to bring the somewhat irrelevant design a little bit better.
This VW Lamando amazes.
Lowered with an air suspension from the Australian manufacturer AIRBFT, the Shanghai VW, which is built in the Chinese VW plant that Volkswagen operates together with its Chinese joint venture partner SAIC, only feels millimeters above the ground, and you have to fear have that the Lamando completely disassembles its carbon front spoiler at the smallest pothole. There are also 20-inch JNC rims and a very striking four-pipe exhaust system from Injen at the rear, which reminds a little of the stacked exhaust pipes of an Alfa Giulia QV. The absolute highlight, however, is that Camber-Tuning, which causes the Lamando to have a negative camber on the rear axle. This is not as extreme as with many JDMModels, however, the same effect is present, and the owner thus draws everyone's attention to himself and his / her darling. Racing brakes from Forge are also installed, which ensure that the Lamando also decelerates properly. This VW would also cut an excellent figure at every VW tuning meeting in Europe, as it was tuned very professionally and is an absolute eye-catcher.
Engine probably not changed.
Unfortunately we do not know which engine does its job in this model, but there are four different engines available for the VW Lamando, which range from slightly weak-breasted 131 HP to sporty 220 HP. Depending on the variant, the maximum torque is between 225 and 350 Newton meters, and either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DSG is responsible for the power transmission. The manual gearbox is only used in the absolute basic version and is only available with the 1,4-liter turbo gasoline engine, which produces 131 or 150 hp. All other models are equipped as standard with the 7-speed dual clutch gearbox already known from many other VWs, which combines the comfort of an automatic and the sportiness of a hand switch. When it comes to top speed, the smallest engine variant of the Lamando already offers sufficient driving performance, since the 131 hp engine accelerates the 1300 kg Lamando to 206 km / h. The top version called GTS, which produces 220 hp from a 2-liter TSI engine and weighs 1475 kg, sprints from 6,9 to 0 km / h in 100 seconds and only stops driving at 240 kilometers per hour. The Lamando would therefore also be suitable for German motorways without any problems, and it is completely incomprehensible in our opinion why it is not officially offered by Volkswagen in this country.
A VW that can be cool.
This VW proves that it has a certain coolness factor due to the various modifications, which were carried out very professionally, and we can imagine that it will definitely find its fans outside the VAG fan scene.
