Talking to the passenger or other group members while riding, listening to your favorite music together, making phone calls or following the announcements of the navigation system - the new BMW Motorrad communication system ConnectedRide Com U1 offers all of this via Bluetooth or Mesh 2.0 technology. The new ConnectedRide Com U1 is characterized by a modern, universally fitting design and can be attached to the BMW Motorrad helmets StreetX, GS Pure and Sao Paolo, for example. The speakers in HD quality, which are very easy to install in the helmet, deliver impressive audio performance, a high-quality sound experience and excellent wearing comfort.

Furthermore, the ConnectedRide Com U1 is equipped with an FM radio, which allows you to save up to ten radio stations. The channel search is carried out at the push of a button or alternatively via the free app "Com U1". The entire operation of the ConnectedRide Com U1 is done intuitively via four buttons or alternatively via the app, which also offers various setting options. Depending on the operating mode, different functions can be activated via voice control. Voice control is available in eight languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese and Russian. If the mobile phone is connected directly to the communication system, it is also possible to conveniently access digital voice assistants and thus voice input.

Intelligent audio mixing ensures a particularly high level of communication comfort. For example, if you speak via Bluetooth Intercom and a navigation announcement is made at the same time, the volume of the Intercom is reduced for the duration of the announcement. When the headset is switched on, an LED informs you about the charging status of the battery by flashing accordingly. If the charge status becomes too low during use, an automatic voice announcement is made. The battery life is up to 13 hours with Bluetooth Intercom and up to 8 hours with Mesh Intercom.

The quick charge time is one hour. With the quick charge function, operating times of 20 (Mesh Intercom) or 3,5 (Bluetooth Intercom) hours are possible after just 6 minutes of charging. The range of the intercom in open terrain is up to 2 km via Bluetooth. Via mesh, this range can be extended to up to 8 km in open terrain when at least six riders are connected and riding at a maximum distance of 1,6 km. For an optimal range in mesh operation, the device is equipped with an antenna that can be easily folded in and out.

During an active group communication, six users can talk at the same time. As an alternative to communication via Mesh, communication via Bluetooth can be set up with two participants. Group communication via Mesh can take place in two different ways:

  • Group Mesh Intercom: Creation of private, closed groups for mesh communication with up to 24 participants.
  • Multi-Channel Open Mesh Intercom: The multi-channel protocol in the Open Mesh allows you to switch between nine communication channels. Anyone on the same channel can speak to this group - supporting an almost unlimited number of drivers as long as they are within range. Every participant can listen.

With the push of a button, users can switch between private group mesh and open mesh without having to reset the mesh first. The "Universal Intercom" function can also be used to establish a call connection with a person who is using a headset from another manufacturer. However, there may be limitations in range. Communication via mesh with communication systems from manufacturers other than Sena or BMW Motorrad is not possible. It is also not possible to integrate third-party communication systems into the group communication via a Bluetooth bridge.
