The Honda Forza 125 was developed for European, very demanding customers. The market launch took place in 2015. As feedback from buyers showed, the models were continuously exceeded, and expectations were exceeded again and again. So far, over 80.000 units have been in customer hands.

The Forza 125 impresses as a Grand Tourismo scooter with seating comfort, good wind protection and practical performance. This also makes it easier to commute for work over longer distances (e.g. on the motorway). The combination of touring qualities, sporty touch and unmistakable design helped the eight-liter scooter to enjoy great popularity.

An optimized four-valve version of Honda's eSP + engine ("Enhanced Smart Power Plus"), compact dimensions and easy handling offer a high degree of agility in the city. Lots of storage space, elegant design aesthetics and proven Honda quality make the model so popular.

In 2018, the Forza 125 was further developed and got a new design and useful upgrades, such as an electrically adjustable windshield. The upward trend continued in 2021, the Forza became even more desirable and practical.

  1. Model overview

Styling updates for the 2021 vintage affected the front section, rear side panels, mirrors and engine cover and favored a slimmer appearance. The aerodynamics have also been improved. Since then, the windshield can be adjusted by an additional 40 mm to the adjustment needs of the owner; a USB charging socket replaced the previous socket.

The chassis remained unchanged. The water-cooled four-valve SOHC engine with HSTC traction control, which always ensures sufficient grip on the rear tire, was presented as a new feature. The engine also meets the Euro 5 standard. Two new colors stylishly enhance the visual appeal of the 2022 Forza 125 vintage.

  1. Features

3.1 Styling & equipment

  • electric windshield with 180 mm adjustment range
  • Space for two full-face helmets under the seat, USB-C charging socket
  • Smartkey operation of the ignition and the optional 45 liter top case
  • Rear light with emergency stop signal function

The design of the Forza 125 matches the electric windshield, which has been redesigned and offers an extended adjustment range of 40 mm. This means that the height of the pane can be adjusted within a total of 180 mm. The windshield is modeled to provide weather protection, direct airflow over the heads of the crew, and reduce wind noise.

The Forza 125 is designed for style and aerodynamic efficiency and also conveys sportiness. The modern design language is expressed by a surround below the headlight, revised side panels with striking Z-shaped lines and a steeply sloping edge on the rear side panels.

The handlebar width is 750 mm, the mirror height is 1.125 mm. These dimensions are ideal for heavy city traffic. The seat height is unchanged at 780 mm. The Forza offers plenty of space for two people and sufficient freedom of movement for the driver. All lighting consists of LEDs.

Two full-face helmets can be stowed under the seat. The storage space can be subdivided using an integrated partition to accommodate, for example, a helmet and / or rain cover or a bag. In the lockable glove compartment on the front left there is space for a mobile phone or a water bottle. The USB charging socket offers the opportunity to charge a smartphone.

The Smartkey of the Forza 125 not only controls the main switch for the ignition and the locking of the seat, but also the optional 45 liter Smart Topcase. With the smartkey in the bag, the additional baggage eater is unlocked and automatically locked again when the driver leaves the scooter. Alternatively, the top case can also be locked with the key.

The cockpit has an analog speedometer and rev counter as well as a digital display positioned in the middle. This can be switched between 3 modes: 1) Odometer, remaining range and current consumption, 2) Trip meter, average consumption and timer, and 3) Ambient temperature and battery sensor. The 125 Forza 2022 is available in five color options:

  • Pearl Falcon Gray ** New for 2022 **
  • Matte Pearl Pacific Blue ** New for 2022 **
  • Pearl Night Star Black
  • Mat Cynos Gray Metallic
  • Matt Carnelian Red Metallic

3.2 Engine

  • 125cm3 Displacement, power 15 HP (11 kW), 12,3 Nm torque
  • Engine with advanced eSP + technology plus automatic start / stop
  • 2,3 liter consumption per 100 km enables a range of almost 500 km
  • HSTC traction control as standard for increased driving safety

The liquid-cooled SOHC four-valve engine of the Forza 125 with eSP + technology develops 15 HP (11 kW) at 8.750 rpm and a maximum torque of 12,2 Nm at 6.500 rpm. Bore and stroke are 53,5 x 55,5 mm, the compression ratio is 11,5: 1.

The Forza 125 impresses with powerful acceleration and powerful torque between 40 and 60 km / h - precisely the area that is most needed in city traffic. The 200 meter mark is reached after 13,3 seconds when accelerating. The maximum speed is 108 km / h.

Honda's friction-reducing eSP technology can be found everywhere in the engine. The PGM-FI fuel injection, fed by a 4,7 liter airbox and an inlet throttle valve with a diameter of 26 mm, optimizes combustion efficiency. The space-saving arrangement of components such as the oil pump (which is integrated into the crankcase) helps to increase efficiency.

An offset cylinder reduces the friction in the engine and efficiently transfers the power produced to the crankshaft. The outside of the cylinder liner is not smooth, but has tiny surface enlargements, which contributes to optimized cooling, reduces tension on the piston rings and helps reduce friction losses.

The radiator, located on the outside of the right crankcase, uses a small and light fan, which also helps to minimize friction. The rolling resistance of the space-saving gearbox is reduced through the use of three main bearings. The pulleys of the centrifugal clutch reduce the pressure on the drive belt, which also saves transmission losses.

The electronically controlled, brushless ACG starter unit functions as both a starter and an alternator. Since the starter works directly on the engine, the starting process is unusually smooth. The otherwise usual noises when the electric starter intervenes via gears are eliminated.

The automatic start / stop automatically stops the engine after three seconds of idling if the scooter is stationary and the brake is applied. A quick turn of the throttle is enough to start the engine again. The automatic start / stop switches off automatically when the battery charge is too low. In this way, excessive discharge can be avoided. The battery (YTZ8V) is a maintenance-free power source.

One of the goals in developing the Honda Forza 125 was that the trip to the gas station should only be once a week for the average user. Thanks to the low fuel consumption of 2,3 liters / 100 km and the 11,5 liter tank, a range of almost 500 km is possible.

The engine complies with the Euro 5 emissions standard, which has been in force since January 1, 2020. Stricter requirements include reducing carbon monoxide emissions, reducing hydrocarbons by more than 40%, stricter detection of misfire and introducing a limit value for particulate matter.

The HSTC traction control (Honda Selectable Torque Control) regulates the traction of the rear wheel if necessary. This strengthens trust in delicate road conditions. A T symbol appears in the cockpit when the system has intervened. The HSTC feature can also be deactivated.

3.3 chassis

  • Steel frame, 33 mm telescopic fork and stereo shock absorbers with adjustable spring preload
  • Weighing just 161 kg, it is agile and user-friendly
  • Cast aluminum wheels, front and rear disc brakes, ABS

The tubular steel frame has the rigidity and strength to cope with different driving conditions. Two shock absorbers cushions the rear section with the one-piece aluminum swing arm, at the front there is a 33 mm telescopic fork with a spring preload that can be adjusted in 7 stages.

The weight of the Forza 125 of only 161 kg makes handling easy and safe (especially at walking pace in heavy city traffic) and parking easy. The wheelbase of 1.505 mm provides driving stability, the steering geometry with a 26,5 ° incline and 89 mm caster supports agile handling.

The 15-inch front wheel is fitted with a 120 / 70-15 tire, while the 14-inch rear wheel is fitted with a 140 / 70-14 tire, which allows maximum traction and a high level of driving comfort. A 256 mm single brake disc is installed at the front, which interacts with a 240 mm brake disc on the rear wheel. ABS ensures the best control and more safety when braking on rather slippery surfaces.
