The Chinese start-up Sur Ron has been making a name for itself with electric motorcycles in Germany since 2014. However, there is a trick behind the reduced speed of the bikes: the reduction can be loud edriver.chip be bypassed. Let's take that Sur Ron Light Bee. The electric motorcycle, which weighs only 57 kilograms including the battery, looks like a dirt bike. And without throttling it reaches speeds of up to to 75 km/h. A pair of YouTube short from the canal FEVER demonstrates how two electric motorcycle tuners use the trick. However, the video has since been removed.

  1. Activate ignition
  2. Briefly pull the brake handle six times
  3. Hold on for the sixth time
  4. Shortly afterwards, “CO” appears on the display
  5. Throttling is disabled

In any case, of course, completely illegal!

However, the road approval of course expires, as it is actually approved for 45 km/h, if the throttling is deactivated or if it over 45 km / h drive. Also the Insurance Cover is lost. Therefore, driving the modified electric motorcycle is only legally possible on private property. Furthermore, the increased speed can further reduce the already short range of around 60 kilometers. According to the video it will Light Bee throttled again as soon as it is switched off and on again.
