Chrome & vinyl: optimal care for US road cruisers!

In the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, American automakers set off veritable chrome fireworks. The golden era of vinyl roofs also falls into this era. Decades later, the two materials that are so typical of US cars have often suffered greatly. QUIXX, the surface rescuers from Neuried near Munich, fortunately have exactly the right products in their range to conveniently repair one or the other flaw yourself. The QUIXX leather & vinyl repair set Made in Germany in black is on offer for only 19,95 euros. The QUIXX metal restoration set, on the other hand, for 14,95 euros for bare metals and chrome ensures a new look in no time.

At certain intervals, even high-quality chrome surfaces show certain impairments and stubborn dirt that cannot be dealt with with conventional cleaning agents. This is where the QUIXX metal restoration set comes into play. The specialist for the do-it-yourself restoration of surfaces has thus developed the perfect product to make almost all shiny, matt and brushed metals shine like new again. The all-inclusive set contains everything you need for “repairs”: high-performance polishing concentrate, four professional polishing cloths, 1000, 2000 and 5000 sandpaper, sanding block and of course instructions. The video tutorial or the following summary shows how to do it: First clean the object to avoid scratches from dirt particles during treatment.

Then apply polishing paste and polish with one of the enclosed cloths until the desired surface condition is achieved. Several passes may be necessary. With matt or brushed metals, the original effect can be restored with the enclosed sandpaper and sanding block.

With this do-it-yourself set, chafing, holes and tears can be repaired or tinted on leather and vinyl. Particularly practical: everything you need is included in the box. The video tutorial and the description below show how easy it is. In general, you tape a larger, coherent area around the damaged area and sand everything with the sandpaper. In the next step, the leather cleaner is applied as a pretreatment. Holes and continuous cracks can be lined with the repair fleece.

Then the QUIXX liquid leather is applied to the damaged area with the sponge in order to cement it. After a drying time of 1,5 hours, the treated area is cleaned again with leather cleaner. These intermediate steps are not required for superficial chafing points. Here, after sanding and cleaning, you can continue with the color matching, which should also be done when repairing holes and cracks. In order to keep the restored surface as long as possible, QUIXX also supplies a leather sealer.

Of course, that wasn't the end of it!
