Cars are also a good means of transport for the disabled. With remote control and voice control, electronic driving aids, Pedal extensions and Entry aids good cars are equipped for the disabled on request. Depending on the situation, however, driving can be made even easier for the driver using secondary functions, voice aids and various other operating devices. Driving with digital functions can be learned quickly. Some cars drive by themselves if they are controlled by the occupants' voice. Digital technologies are therefore further developing automatic driving. The accelerator can be balanced manually, for example. Much can now be controlled individually by remote control.

Hand-held devices regulate the speed electronically, the brakes and power steering are easy to operate. And there is too extremely smooth running Power steering with fail-safe devices. Due to the modification, the force required is up to 80% lower than with the normal servo, which is actually pretty easy to turn depending on the vehicle. But what other possibilities are there to enable a person with a handicap to drive?

Remote control for secondary functions in the car

Switching units for secondary functions are easy to operate and they also fit elegantly into the interior of the vehicle. With several buttons you can e.g. B. operate the functions of the indicators, the high beam or the horn. The seat of a swivel seat is due to the additional functions higher than the original seat, which restricts the headroom due to the design. In exceptional cases, however, the original seat can also be used if the person is seated at the appropriate height. Such an OEM seat must then at least have a flatter seat surface.

The swivel seat can be pulled out of the vehicle via the vehicle sill. And an electric swivel device can also be retrofitted. There is, for example, the Carony system with a swivel seat. Here the system can be connected to the wheelchair base. Or the TURNY swivel and lift seat. It is helpful and enables a handicapped person to be transferred simply and easily into the wheelchair or vice versa out of the wheelchair. It is also possible to load a wheelchair into the trunk.

Trunk lift

A good trunk lift can lift wheelchairs weighing up to 200 kg and, if desired, load them electrically into the trunk. It is therefore a great help for accompanying persons. However, a safe stand is always necessary in order to be able to operate and handle the lift. There are also other variants. For example, by simply driving onto a kind of platform. The loading time is very short and only takes about 30 seconds. And in an emergency, it can also be operated using a hand crank. For the Rolli Roof Box, a maximum weight for the wheelchair of 20 kg applies. This maximum weight must be adhered to because the system is only designed for this. When the end position is reached, the system switches off automatically. The space requirement on the side is very small.
