The New York New License Plate is a new kind of License plates for vehicles available in New York since June 2023. The license plates show various sights from the ten regions of the state, such as One World Trade Center, the Niagara Falls or Montauk Point Lighthouse. The signs are designed to celebrate the uniqueness of each region and allow vehicle owners to express pride for where they live. The first regional variant, the New York city skyline shows, was on June 12, 2023 presented. The other nine regions – Western New York, Finger Lakes, Southern Tier, Central New York, North Country, Mohawk Valley, Capital Region and Mid Hudson – will each have a version that features a landmark from their communities. New York New License Plate
The New York New License Plate is not the only new version of a license plate introduced in New York. In 2020, the state began issuing the new regular license plates with the blue and white one “Excelsior” design, which was chosen after an online vote. The Excelsior signs feature small images of New York landmarks, such as the Statue of Liberty or Niagara Falls, with a yellow “Excelsior” at the bottom. The Excelsior plates replace the mustard yellow "Empire Gold" plates issued since 2010.
The new signs are one of more than 200 special license plates, which are offered by the DMV. This also includes signs for branches of the military and veterans, counties and regions of New York State, professions, causes, sports teams and more. The proceeds from some of the signs also support charitable purposeslike that World Trade Center Memorial Scholarship Fund or Cure Childhood Cancer Research Fund. New York is the first state in the US to allow regional license plates that reflect drivers' origins and identities. The new signs have been since September 1, 2023 .
In Germany there is the desired license plate!
The regional license plates are optional and have a cost 25 US Dollars in addition to normal registration or renewal fees. The license plates are not only for cars, but also for Motorcycles, Trailers and Campers & RVs to Rent available. The regional license plates are a novelty in the USA, but similar concepts have been around for a long time in other countries. In Germany there are also individual license plates, but in principle there is nothing more to do than choosing the letters and numbers next to the abbreviation for the registration district.
