Speed assistant (ISA) is compulsory from 2024

The EU wants to be compulsory for one from 2024 Speed Assistant enforce and with it all new cars slow down. The time has come from 2024 - a new assistance system in every new car should be added to the drivers of the vehicles to forceto keep to the given speed. The scheme is supposed to Europe be valid. That the regulation is enforced is as good as for sure. The background is that the number of accidents should be reduced. How strongly and how exactly the system will be noticeable is still unclear. There was a similar debate in the early 70s. At that time, the predecessor of the EU, the EEC, decided that every new car should have one Belt must have installed. The auto industry protested loudly against it. According to them, the seat belt was seen as a deprivation of liberty and stopped security risk But the protest was of no use, because in the mid-80s it was mandatory across Europe to buckle up. This has saved many people's lives since then. But can you compare that?

Will Speed Assist save lives?

Speed assistant (ISA) is compulsory from 2024

The speed assistant could soon become the same as the seat belt back then. The ISA system stands for Intelligent Speed Assistance, translated intelligent speed assistant. ISA is likely to be starting in the EU 2022 mandatory for new car models (new type approvals) and from 2024 in every new car (all new registrations). It is almost certain that the system will be introduced. The EU is currently defining the final details for this and in the April 2022 should it be so far. From April 06.07.2022th, XNUMX the new regulation should then finally come into force. And Switzerland should also be affected by the regulation, although the country is not a member of the EU. The automotive industry has so far resisted the new regulation. The system works with the recognition of traffic signs with cameras in the car and via the navigation device. As soon as a Exceeding the speed limit is determined, the driver is made aware of the excess.

The countries that host the largest car manufacturers in the EU, i.e. France, Italy and Germany, want to interfere as little as possible with the behavior of drivers. According to these, a simple warning lamp should be sufficient as a speed assistant. And a message that is at the push of a button shut down can be. According to the European Road Safety Council ETSC, which is itself a strong representative of a particularly strong intervention, however, is the idea of the carmaker not strict enough and there is a threat of a dramatic weakening of the new safety standards.

Engine output is throttled

So that accidents caused by speeders can be prevented and safety can be drastically improved, the ETSC calls for possibilities and systems to manage the Throttle engine power or resistance to the accelerator pedal to enable. This makes you drive more slowly the gezwung. According to studies, the variant of the throttled engine power (a kind of forced cruise control) probably works best, as this is stress-free and successfully mediates speeding. If fast Full throttle is given, but stands for a short time I trotzdem full power available, so that it can be overtaken safely. Incidentally, visual and loud warnings failed in the test.

zero road deaths by 2050

The EU demands annually until 2050 zero traffic fatalities. To achieve this goal, the intelligent speed assistant is to be introduced. But even though cars are becoming safer and fewer and fewer traffic fatalities are occurring, exceeding the speed limit (unmatched speed) the main reason for accidents in the EU and Switzerland. In Switzerland, speeders cause two serious personal injuries per day and in Germany there are around 1.000 deaths and several hundred thousands injured every year. So at least the "official statements".

Of course, that wasn't the end of it.

  1. Surely you don't think that the reason for introducing Speed Assist is to reduce serious accidents or fatalities.
The state or state-related institutions are concerned with collecting data, by the way with the help of Google (!), and knowing when which vehicle is where and at all times. This is nothing but another step into the surveillance state.
It should also be noted that the regulation is to come into force on 06.07.22. Suddenly something like this happens very quickly! Apparently, the distraction caused by the Ukraine war and Corona is being taken advantage of.
Unfortunately, the German people will again be stupid enough to put up with this.

    • It doesn't need to, you're already being tracked today - you always have your smartphone with you. Everyone can see where you are and who else is there in real time. Wake up, you are already giving your data voluntarily to so many social platforms today.
