Wheel covers can give the vehicle a whole new look. Especially with classic style no modern designs can be selected. Here are the so-called moon caps, which are also becoming increasingly popular. Moon Caps are bulbous and arched wheel covers which are mostly completely closed. It's easy to find the perfect baby moon wheel covers for your specific bike type! Decisive is of course the size of the Moon Caps. Wheel covers are available in different sizes. You have the choice between wheel covers from 13 to 16 inches and in rare cases there is also a number bigger or smaller. However, the dimensions are usually 13 to 16 inches.
Variants of the Moon Caps
Moon Caps are available in brushed, mirror polished stainless steel and high-gloss chrome-plated metal. Sometimes these are also available in a combination of plastic and stainless steel. There are different rims on the vehicles, which accordingly require different Moon Caps:
- Rims with three to four outer bulges.
- Rims with three to four inner bulges.
- Rims with three to six clips

When replacing an existing Moon Cap, the easiest way to find the correct size is to simply remove a cap from the wheel, turn it over, and measure the inside diameter of the Moon Cap hubcap. If you do not have Moon Caps, use the instructions below.
- Measure from the top of one of the knobs on the center hub to an imaginary curved line that represents the outside edge of the hub ring as if there were no nub. Then note the measurement.
- Now measure from one of the nub tips to the outer edge of the hub ring, which is centered between the other two nubs.
- Finally, add the measurement from step 1 to the measurement in step 2.
Accessories for Moon Caps
The Moon Caps always come with a sturdy clamp that covers the entire rim. Optionally, there are the Moon Caps also with white wall rings. White wall rings are available in white and white / black.
Emblems on Moon Caps
Moon caps are usually available without emblems. Vendors offering moon caps with emblems are rare, but available. However, it is possible here to apply an emblem in the form of a sticker. VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes & Co. Trademarks are available as stickers and, with a little skill, can be placed in the middle of the caps.
Benefits of Moon Caps
Moon Caps are wheel covers and wheel covers are not subject to registration. That means the wheel covers also need no labeling or have papers. The only thing that has to be taken care of is that the wheel covers do not pose a risk of injury to road users or passers-by. The wheel covers must therefore have a tight fit and there should be no sharp-edged contours. The wheel covers are relatively cheap compared to alloy wheels and other original wheel covers. The stainless steel also offers very high resistance to salt and rust and is therefore very suitable for winter.
Care of Moon Caps
If you want to enjoy the Moon Caps for a long time, they need good care. Therefore, it is also recommended not to use them in winter. Even though Moon Caps are made of stainless steel, they lose their shine in winter or get scratches from the salt on the streets. Incidentally, we see a small disadvantage as the fact that the completely closed caps leave little fresh air to the brakes which, at least for powerful vehicles, is not the optimal prerequisite.
