It was 2 weeks ago 538 km/h and now the missile vehicle Bloodhound LSR broke through the 800 km / h mark. The English Bloodhound Project Team is currently testing in South Africa on the Hakskeen Pan Salt Lake (there will also be the record run) the Bloodhound LSR next year (or at the latest 2021) set a new land speed record. But there are still many tests needed. The team around the British businessman Ian Warhurst is confident. For the first time the rocket vehicle Bloodhound LSR drove faster than 800 km / h (+ 501 miles per hour / mph). Exactly 806 km / h, which is still far from the existing record of 1.227,99 km / h. This was set up by Andy Green as the then designer and driver of the Bloodhound LSR in the year 1997. But without any mistakes, the current ride did not end.
+ 13.500 PS Eurojet EJ200 jet engine
The first turn of Green with 800-km / h triggered a fire alarm when braking with two parachutes. However, the rescue vehicles drove off in vain, there was no fire. The alarm was the result of the tremendous temperature of the engine and the high outside temperatures of 36 degrees Celsius. We are curious when the official hunt for the land speed record will start on the Hakskeen Pan and whether it will be possible to reach the planned target of 1.000 mph, just under 1.610 km / h. The 13,5 meter long and at the highest point three meters high 7,8 tons of Bloodhound LSR should be quite capable with the Eurojet EJ200 jet engine from Rolls-Royce. Finally, provide over 13.500 PS for propulsion.
