2023 Abarth 500e: the Scorpion is powered!

Abarth heralds a whole new era by introducing the new, all-electric, abarth 500e presents. The vehicle enriches the model range in Europe and also in Brazil, where previously the SUV model Abarth Pulse was successfully introduced. Responsive and exciting in city traffic, the new Abarth 500e is also agile and enjoyable when driving out of town. In short: it is “more Abarth than ever”. The electric architecture performs better than the petrol engine in a direct comparison thanks to optimized weight distribution, better torque and a wider wheelbase.

The electric drive is the perfect technology to increase driving pleasure - more sprinting ability, better balance, more stability and optimal road holding. In short, for Abarth, electrification means being more fun and more competitive. Seen from a different perspective, this technology not only stands for the search for more environmentally friendly solutions, but is also synonymous with pure driving pleasure.

Olivier Francois, Chief Executive Officer of FIAT & Abarth and Global Chief Marketing Officer of Stellantis, commented:

  • "Today we celebrate a milestone in the history of Abarth: we present the first electric Abarth in Europe, based on the Fiat 500e, and launch it in Brazil as the second novelty after the launch of the Abarth Pulse. The new Abarth 500e is one of the most exciting launches in the history of the scorpion marque - it's a great addition to the Abarth portfolio. I like to think of us as family, so our fan base will be involved in every step of our electrification journey.Francois continued:You may be wondering 'why electric?'.

  • Well, basically performance got us into it: in fact, with every change made to Abarth, we want to achieve the best driving performance. This is exactly how our founder Carlo Abarth has always done it. From this point of view, nothing has changed: it's about better acceleration, better handling and more fun. Then there's Abarth's legendary signature – its sound. All of this will result in our gear shift towards a more global presence: the new Abarth Pulse in Brazil is phase one, when the new Abarth 500e reaches markets outside of Europe – including Japan and Brazil – phase two will start. When you put it all together, the result is 'more Abarth than ever'!"

There's only one reason to build an electric Abarth: it's to find the best performance. This is the goal that Abarth has been pursuing for over 73 years, with all its adrenaline-pumping and competitive experience. Abarth is synonymous with performance, competition, thrills - a mix that has electrified people since 1949. Abarth takes performance to a new level with the new, revolutionary Abarth 500e, true to Carlo Abarth's mantra: “Be faster than yesterday. Win more.”

The new Abarth 500e: More Abarth than ever

The new Abarth 500e is not only a real scorpion, it is even "more Abarth than ever". This means it offers unflinching, playful yet bold style and an exhilarating experience with the same amount of fun to drive. Combining performance, electric power, style and a new powerful sound, the new Skorpion turns advanced technology into adrenaline and sustainability into performance. The new Abarth 500e is the most responsive and exciting Abarth ever in city driving, offering better responsiveness than, say, an Abarth 695. Compared to its petrol-powered counterpart, it achieves 50 percent better acceleration from 20 to 40 km/h.

The new Abarth 500e is also quicker outside the city, for example in hairpin bends, where it can reach the target speed from 40 to 60 km/h in just 1,5 seconds - the petrol version lags 15 meters behind in this comparison: it reaches 60 km/h km/h only a second later. Furthermore, the more responsive electric motor, a longer wheelbase, improved support through wider track widths and the optimal balance between the axles offer excellent handling and impressive driving dynamics: the new Abarth 500e reacts more quickly, is more agile when entering corners, which then leads to higher speeds in the curve and at the exit.

2023 Abarth 500e: the Scorpion is powered!

The new Abarth 500e is equipped with a powerful 42 kWh battery and an electric motor with an output of 113 kW (155 hp). In this way, the performance of the scorpion is combined with the innovation of electric mobility. In fact, the new 500e goes from 7 to 0 km/h in just 100 seconds. The vehicle offers the best acceleration figures in its class and meanwhile guarantees zero local emissions. So you can really have fun with the new Abarth 500e, it's exciting and fast. In fact, the new Abarth 500e aims to expand Abarth's target market while staying true to its roots and DNA.

Driving modes: Turismo, Scorpion Street and Scorpion Track

2023 Abarth 500e: the Scorpion is powered!

Three exclusive driving modes are available that focus on performance - Turismo, Scorpion Street and Scorpion Track. They give customers the freedom to fully upgrade the sporty set-up and unleash the power of their Abarth in any challenge on the road.

  • The Turismo Mode enables smoother acceleration with less power (maximum power 100 kW instead of 113 kW, torque 220 Nm instead of 235 Nm) and thus an efficient yet exciting driving experience.
  • Scorpion Street Mode offers peak performance while maximizing regenerative braking.
  • The Turismo or Scorpion Street Mode is – enables a particularly pleasant driving style with the one-pedal driving function. Because one pedal is enough to experience the ultimate performance. The car decelerates every time you lift your foot off the gas pedal, recovering kinetic energy as you do so. This is then converted into electricity to charge the battery.
  • Finally, the Scorpion Track mode is intended for those who are looking for even more sportiness.

loading speed

To minimize charging time, the new Abarth 500e is equipped with the 85 kW fast charging system, which charges the battery very quickly and guarantees fun. In less than five minutes, for example, a sufficient energy reserve for the daily mileage requirement (approx. 40 km) can be built up. So you need less time than, for example, for the selection of the next destination. If you're in a hurry, the fast charge reaches 35 percent of the range in just 80 minutes.

An easyWallbox can be installed to charge the car quickly and easily at home. It's a "plug and play" solution that simply attaches to the wall near a power outlet. Thanks to a Bluetooth connection and the "MyEasyWallbox" app, it is easy to set up the easyWallbox and monitor its operating parameters.

Abarth roars on - the immersive sound experience of the new Abarth 500e

Sound has always been important to Abarth. Beyond a simple technical feature, it has become a creative tool to express a distinctive style. In addition, the Abarth sound has always been synonymous with driving pleasure and excitement. It has been specially designed to allow all the emotions that every Abarth driver is looking for.

So, in addition to its high performance and bold style, the new Abarth 500e is the only small car to offer an immersive audio experience for those who want to drive electric while still enjoying the famous and unmistakable Abarth roar. The Sound Generator is offered as an alternative to the standard sound experience and comes with an AVAS that is reminiscent of the sound of a petrol engine - unlike the standardized noise with the guitar sounds. In addition, when the new Abarth 500e is equipped with the sound generator, the key on-off system sounds a guitar in the cabin every time the car is switched on or off. When the vehicle is stationary, the sound generator can be deactivated at will.

The new Abarth 500e, elements for an unmistakable, bold and sporty style

New design elements give the new Abarth 500e a unique yet bold style, drawing inspiration from the past. The new, modernized and electrified Skorpion signature logo makes its debut on the new Abarth 500e, projecting the brand into the future - and it's not "just a signature": it's the union of performance and innovation, fun and sustainability.
