It is often not easy for builders of such classic vehicles to find the right balance between a stunning appearance and breakneck power. But this 1970 Chevrolet Camaro as a restomod made it. Built by Kelly & Son Crazy Painters in Southern California, owner Mitch Kelly started the project with the goal of not only building something beautiful, but also something brutally fast. Since the car had an accident, the body had to be realigned beforehand in order to be prepared for the reconstruction. Incidentally, the owner of the Camaro is a racing driver, so it takes a lot of equipment to impress him. The centerpiece is therefore a turbocharged 6,2-liter V8 LSA engine, which was modified by Lingenfelter Performance and now delivers a full 750 hp.
Borla exhaust system for the right sound
And thanks to a special Borla exhaust system, it also sounds appropriate. The chassis and the new subframe come from Detroit Speed and the load is braked by means of 15 inch (approx. 38 cm) Brembo brakes. The body was given a new paint job with a two-tone color in show quality (silver above blue below) and all trim strips and door handles were removed. The color scheme even extends into the engine compartment and even the split-spoke rims from American Racing are two-tone. Incidentally, they are installed in the format 19 inches in front and 20 inches in the rear and equipped with Toyo R888 tires. The interior is equipped with Sabelt seats from a Ferrari and the steering wheel is also from Sabelt. In addition, a completely new dashboard with leather and a high-end audio system.
