Mankind has been waiting for this, hasn't it? However. The electrified Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray was launched in the US tonight. It is the first model of the iconic sports car to be equipped with an electric motor. However, not exclusively, but as a hybrid. The electric motor works in combination with the esteemed LT2 6,2-liter V8 from the Stingray and brings a system output of 481 kW (654 hp) to the road. According to Chevrolet, the hybrid Vette accelerates from zero to 2,5 miles per hour (60-0 km/h) in just 96 seconds, making it the fastest ever – at least in the 0-60 discipline. It also completes the quarter mile in 10,5 seconds at a speed of 209 km/h. The electric motor is installed on the front axle and has an output of 120 kW (163 hp) and 165 Nm of torque and is powered by a 1,9 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Incidentally, in the so-called stealth mode, the Vette can drive up to 72 km/h without the combustion engine having to develop its power. The E version of the C8 also comes standard with the Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 chassis and a Brembo carbon ceramic brake system. Not bad for a "standard equipment". It also rolls on 20 and 21-inch wheels that are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires and can be optionally upgraded with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Visually, the E-Ray is a proud 9,1 centimeters wider than the Stingray and has new horizontal elements in the front apron and a bumper with newly designed inlets at the rear. And there are also new colors for the E-Ray.
Carbon Ground Effects Kit
A total of 14 liveries are available, including Riptide Blue, Seawolf Gray, and Cacti. There is also a carbon ground effects kit as well as black exhaust tailpipes and various stickers available for an extra charge. Incidentally, Chevrolet gives the E-Ray an individual touch with the Electric Blue sports stripes, which are exclusively available for this model. The rim range includes four aluminum designs and one carbon rim. Furthermore, all 2024 Corvette receive various updates in the assistance systems.
