Continuation Car - 2020 Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger!

Have you ever heard of a so-called Continuation Car (Continuation vehicle / follow-up vehicle) belongs? These are vehicles that are currently being built but have the look from back then. As a rule, popular classics such as the Porsche 550 Spyder, the Cunningham C4R or the Ford GT40 are used for this. In principle, however, it is possible with any type. And one of the currently most spectacular Film vehicles is the 2020 Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger Continuation Car. The DB5 Original was only built a good 900 times and last rolled off the production line in 1965. But 55 years later, Aston-Martin is giving the brand's most famous sports car another chance. The Goldfinger "Continuation Car" was manufactured by Aston Martin in the original DB5 design with aluminum body panels in combination with a "mild steel" chassis.some benevolent modifications and improvements"Made at"guarantee an absolute maximum of quality and reliability".

approx. EUR 3,43 million plus tax

Of course with the same beautiful design and cool gimmicks for secret agents. And these had to be, because the vehicle from 2020 pays homage to the DB5 by James Bond (Sean Connery) from the film "Goldfinger" from 1964. And from the new legend it is said to be in "Silver Birch" paints exactly 25 vehicles as “continuation cars” at a price of around 3,43 million euros BEFORE TAXES. The video embedded below shows impressively how much work has been invested in the development of the modern DB5 and the installation of the 007 gadgets. The example now presented is extremely similar to the vehicle from the film adaptation, which incidentally, as the fastest money-making cinema production to date, is even listed in the Guinness Book of Records.

over 4500 working hours

But the meticulously detailed, authentic reproductions from the film Wagen easily took 4.500 working hours. Starting with fake double machine guns in the front, a working fog system in the back, a bulletproof rear shield, a removable roof panel on the passenger side and the legendary one rotating license plate almost all components are functional at the front and rear. And at both ends of the DB5, battering rams have been let in, which hopefully will never be used. The simulated tire slicer is not really serious and fortunately the oil delivery system on the back is just fake. In times when environmental protection is becoming increasingly important, the latter would of course be an absolute no-go. And there is a lot of 007 charm in the cabin too. Here, Aston Martin installs a fake radar screen tracker card and, like the original, a phone is installed in the driver's door. Otherwise, the many switches installed in the cabin are heavily based on the original, which even means that an operating button is installed on the top of the shift knob.

the passenger does NOT fly out of the car

This button triggered the ejection seat in the film as we know it from KITT from the Knight Rider series. Of course, he is only a dummy. The storage compartment for “weapons” directly under the driver's seat, however, is not a dummy. And the 4,0-liter in-line six-cylinder with 290 hp under the long hood is also not a fake. It works with three SU carburettors and an oil cooler and transfers its power to the rear axle via a ZF five-speed manual gearbox and mechanical limited-slip differential. Aston Martin has already started making the first deliveries to customers and in the course of the year more of the 25 limited editions will reach well-heeled customers. But unfortunately this vehicle also has one major disadvantage: The DB5 is not street legal. The equipment of the devices is subject to country-specific legislation and even the rotating number plates are absolutely illegal in Germany.
