You want to know what happens when a 1956 Chevrolet pickup truck is given a twin turbo LS2 V8? The video below shows you how. The classic, painted in tempting blue and fitted with contrasting carbon details, is by far the fastest vehicle he has ever sat in, according to Shawn Davis from AutotopiaLA. And that should probably also apply to the noise level. After all, there has to be a reason the '56 Chevy is being piloted with airplane headphones in the video. The vehicle is, by the way, the "favorite project" of Griffin Steinfeld, who is known as a NASCAR driver and older brother of the singer and Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld. He has always screwed cars himself and carried out the conversion by grabbing an LS2 bi-turbo engine, heavily modified with precision turbos, new camshafts from Dougherty Racing Cams and countless other components. The end result is around 1.400 hp at 20 psi boost pressure on the test bench and if he is on the road with 40 psi, then about 2.000 hp are available.

Roll cage and power windows

Probably the craziest are the acceleration values. The truck should accelerate from 0 to 60 miles (approx. 97 km) in under (!!!) a second. Steinfeld says it can be done in about 0,8 seconds! And that's not a joke. The truck was specially designed for 1/8 mile drag events but is (supposedly) still built halfway suitable for everyday use. All body parts including the carbon components were specially made for this vehicle and there was also a full tube chassis for sufficient rigidity. On the other hand, the Chevy truck still has classic things like steel fenders, a hood that hides the engine and a cabin in which you can sit reasonably comfortably. Even amenities such as power windows are built in. They are a bit difficult to reach because of the roll cage, but what the heck! Incidentally, the pickup can be fired with three types of fuel (91, E85 and methanol). The result? You see in the video!
