1989 Mercedes AMG S-Class is up for auction!

Today, AMG is an integral part of the Daimler Group, but that was not always the case. It was not until 2005 that Mercedes-Benz completely took over the in-house tuner, which was founded by Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher. But even before the full integration into the group, there were of course already various AMGmodels, and one of them is this '89 S-Class AMG, which recently appeared at RM Sotheby's was auctioned in Miami. We would like to introduce you to the model.

Vehicle was commissioned and completed by Japanese AMG base!

This 560 SEL 6.0 AMG, which was created in a limited edition, has an in-house bodykit with front apron attachment as well as side skirts, rear apron and rear spoiler. The car also has three-part AMG Aero III rims in 17-inch format, which feature stars in anthracite and polished beds. Tires from the Continental brand were mounted on these, which listen to the model designation ContiSportContact 2 and have the format 245/45R17. In order to come to a safe standstill in all situations despite massively increased performance, the Bremsanlage of the W126 modified. In addition, the chassis has electronic damping!

Pure luxury reigns in the interior!

In addition to a black leather interior and various wooden elements, which were typical for that time, the 560 SEL 6.0 AMG also has fold-out wooden tables on the backrests of the front seats, which are reminiscent of the business class of an airplane. To emphasize the sportiness, AMG fittings with white dials for the speedometer and rev counter should of course not be missing, nor should an AMG sports steering wheel. A Sony DIN radio with MP3 function and other features ensures the best entertainment.

6 liters of displacement provide powerful power!

The M117 V8 petrol engine was bored out to 6 liters and received a four-valve cylinder head, four camshafts, an optimized intake and an AMG exhaust system. As a result, the unit, which originally had a displacement of 5,6 liters, generates a whopping 385 hp and a torque of 566 Newton meters. Despite the antiquated four-speed automatic transmission, which is responsible for the power transmission, the sports car manages a whopping 300 kilometers per hour in fine twine. Only the rear wheels are driven, because four-wheel drive was not yet planned for Mercedes limousines at that time.
