Nissan recently entered into a cooperation with the sporting goods manufacturer New Balance to create a Kicks SUV that mimics the look of the NB fashion brand's Type 327 sneaker model. The vehicle is one full hybrids with project name Nissan Kicks e-Power 4WD. The project is of course unique and not intended for series production. However, for every car enthusiast living in Japan, there is an opportunity to photograph the very special SUV for a chance to win a conventional Nissan Kicks e-Power 4WD. Now we present you the special model.
Homage to a cult sneaker
The very special one Kicks received a special foiling, which covers the entire body and also makes the rear side windows opaque. He also got a shoelace look on the hood and a special roof construction to look as similar as possible to the shoe. This makes it appear as if a gigantic foot could climb into the interior and put on the kicks as a sports shoe. By the way, in addition to the possibility of winning a Nissan Kicks e-Power 4WD, there is a chance to own a pair of New Balance 327 sneakers for free, as among all Twitter userswho retweet the official post, several pairs will be raffled off. Japanese Nissan fans also had the opportunity to visit the New Balance shop in Ginza, Tokyo on January 24 to receive a sticker that could be exchanged for a free latte macchiato at Nissan's Crossing Café.
Hybrid system drives the Nissan Kicks e-Power 4WD!
With the combination of a 1,2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor that delivers 129 hp and 260 Newton meters of maximum torque, the compact SUV makes good progress. A special feature of the drive is the fact that the petrol engine is only used to feed the electric motor and to charge the lithium-ion batteries. Otherwise, the electric drive takes over the lion's share in daily operation. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a continuously variable CVT transmission.
Our conclusion:
