Ecological electric mobile home: the VW ID.Buzz!

British manufacturer TC Conversions presents a new electric motorhome version of the VW ID.Buzz, one of the most sought-after vehicles on the market. The electric van comes with an outdoor kitchen and a pop-up roof with solar panels to increase user comfort and efficiency. Although Volkswagen is not yet offering an official camping extension for the ID.Buzz, some companies such as Alpine campers from Germany and TC conversions from Great Britain, developed their own versions. The motorhome from TC Conversions is also based on the compact electric van VW ID.Buzz and can be built on either the Cargo or the better-equipped Life version.

Both have an outdoor kitchen that can be lowered and a practical pop-up roof that allows headroom in the interior. The pop-up roof is equipped with flat solar modules that charge the batteries of the ID.Buzz and the body batteries in good weather. However, the company has given up gas and instead offers electric cooking and heating. The narrow kitchen unit can be used both inside and outside by adjusting the height of the work area. The kitchen is equipped with an induction hob, a sink, a refrigerator and a 30 liter fresh water tank.

Currently, the converted vehicle is designed for two people who can sleep on a convertible rear bench seat. However, TC Conversions is working on further improving the pop-up roof so that two additional people can sleep there, making the ID.Buzz a true four-person motorhome. Despite the camper qualities, the e-van can also be used as an everyday vehicle. According to TC Conversions, the range of the converted ID.Buzz is around 335 kilometers (WLTP), and the batteries can be quickly charged within 30 minutes (from 5 to 80 percent) in good conditions.

it only starts from €89.100

However, the prices for the cargo version of the modified ID.Buzz on the part of TC Conversions only start at a hefty €89.100, while the better equipped Life version even costs at least €103.000. All in all, with the conversion, TC Conversions presents an attractive solution for camping enthusiasts who are looking for an environmentally friendly and comfortable motorhome. With the electric van VW ID.Buzz as a basis, the company has a forward-looking alternative to conventional mobile homes and is expanding the options for environmentally conscious campers.
