McLaren's high-performance hybrid supercar "Artura"!

With the launch of the new Artura, a high-performance hybrid (HPH) next year, McLaren Automotive will bring its entire know-how in the field of hybrid drive technology to the super sports car class, developed with the knowledge, experience and technical achievements of McLaren more than half a century in racing and road vehicles. Completely new in every way, the Artura marks the beginning of a new era for the British pioneering company. Building on the know-how in the field of electrification, the hybrid hypercar McLaren P2012TM, first introduced in 1, and the recently launched Hyper-GT Speedtail, which is in production this year as McLaren's fastest car of all time with a top speed of 403 km / h was the Artura McLaren's first high-performance hybrid series supercar.

"Every element of the Artura is brand new - from the platform architecture and every part of the high-performance hybrid powertrain, to the exterior and interior, to the state-of-the-art driver interface - but it draws on McLaren's decades of pioneering development Technologies for super lightweight racing and road vehicles, in order to bring all of our know-how in the field of electrification to the super sports car class.“Mike Flewitt, CEO, McLaren Automotive

completely new, compact V6 petrol engine

The new Artura marks the debut of an all-new, compact V6 gasoline engine with two turbochargers, which is to be combined with an electric motor in a new, lightweight, high-performance hybrid powertrain that maintains the performance advantages of the larger-displacement V8 engines from McLaren and has the added attraction of improved torque behavior at low speeds to achieve brilliant acceleration. The Artura can also be operated exclusively with electrical energy for everyday emission-free city trips. The Artura is the first car based on a brand new platform architecture optimized for electrification and is designed and manufactured in the UK at the McLaren Composites Technology Center.

Artura with super lightweight construction

The Artura promotes McLaren's commitment to the principles of super lightweight construction, which have their roots in motorsport. The additional mass of the high-performance hybrid system has been largely offset, for example, by the use of weight-saving technologies throughout the chassis, body and powertrain. In addition, the McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA) at the heart of the Artura not only enables the class-leading weight advantage of the car , but is also the basis for the dynamic excellence inherent in every McLaren. More details on the all-new McLaren Artura will be announced in the coming months.

Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
