Caravan Salon 22: LIONTRON presents self-sufficient and sustainable coffee bike

It is often difficult for Coffee-Bike operators to get electricity in public places. Good espresso machines need a lot of energy to do this. In order to be independent of the public power supply and at the same time use renewable energies, LIONTRON is presenting its first self-sufficient coffee bike as a study at the Caravan Salon 22 in Düsseldorf. The bike provides enough power from the built-in lithium iron phosphate batteries to brew coffee all day. The batteries are charged via the two solar modules on the roof.

Three LIONTRON lithium batteries, each with 100 ampere hours and 24 volts, provide sufficient energy. These supply a 2000 watt Victron inverter, which converts the battery power into 230 volts and operates the dual boiler coffee machine and two coffee grinders. Enough energy to brew 300 coffees in a day. In addition, when the sun is shining, the two flexible and ultra-light 200 watt (400 Wp) solar modules from Greenakku mounted on the roof recharge the three batteries. On sunny days, the modules generate enough solar power to cover the energy consumption of the coffee bike, which is around 300 watts per hour. It follows that the mobile coffee stand works independently at any location.

the coffee bike is sustainable

In addition, the Coffee-Bike is sustainable because it produces most of the electricity it uses itself and stores it in the batteries. The modular battery design of the LIONTRON batteries used also contributes to sustainability. Should one of the batteries ever become damaged, components can be replaced easily and without special tools. All components, such as the cells, the electronic battery management system and the Bluetooth module, are screwed together - not glued or welded
