The RC models from KTM have been holding the Supersport flag in the KTM model range for years and are extremely popular with motorcycle fans all over the world. The new generation comes with a racing-inspired design, a sporty chassis and state-of-the-art electronics that have never been seen before in the small-displacement supersport bike segment. This means that the new RC models storm out of the pit lane straight onto the starting grid.
KTM RC model series 2022
Their look, derived from racing, is the most striking update of the new series: Almost every part of the fairing has been redesigned and clearly underlines the sporty character of the bikes. In the course of the redesign, the overall size of the RC models was also consciously increased - not only to make a visual statement, but also to improve the aerodynamics at high speeds.
The new design also improves wind and weather protection and optimally directs the heat from the engine away from the driver. In order to achieve a sportier and more aggressive look, but also to showcase the newly designed steel tubular space frame in the best possible way, the rear fairing was kept as minimalist as possible.

As befits a real sports motorcycle, special attention has been paid to ergonomics. The ergonomically designed knee area now allows the driver to move smoothly and is as slim as possible in order to offer the largest possible contact area. The brand new two-piece instrument cluster and windshield bracket use a new design made of aluminum, while a redesigned lower section made of composite material holds the headlight in place. The now larger fuel tank has been optimized in terms of suitability for everyday use, comfort and range.
The new bodywork can be easily removed thanks to the reduction in the number of screws and a newly developed assembly system. In this way, the driver can quickly swap the bodywork approved for the road for the racetrack fairing parts. However, the most important updates of the new KTM RC models can be found under the new bodywork. When developing the KTM RC series in 2022, the focus was on saving weight and so the chassis of the new models was slimmed down all around. New rims are responsible for a weight reduction of 3,4 kg, while the new ByBre brake system is an impressive 960 grams lighter than its predecessor. The frame has also been optimized and is now 1,5 kg lighter than before.
Suspension has been significantly adapted
The suspension has also been significantly adapted: At the front, an adjustable WP APEX open cartridge upside-down fork does its job, where the compression stage can be adjusted in 30 clicks on the left and the rebound stage in 30 clicks on the right. The top model KTM RC 390 offers a WP APEX shock absorber with preload and 5-click rebound adjustment. The KTM RC 125 comes with a WP APEX open cartridge upside-down fork with a sportier set-up, while its WP APEX shock absorber offers a split-piston function.
Each model in the KTM RC series is powered by a EURO 5-compatible, ultra-modern, liquid-cooled 1-cylinder, 4-stroke engine with two overhead camshafts, four valves and electronic fuel injection. Thanks to a new air filter box, the KTM RC models of the 2022 generation now provide even more torque. The engine mapping of the KTM RC 390 has also been changed to improve torque and general drivability. When it comes to electronics, the new generation of KTM RC models set new standards in the segment of small-displacement supersport bikes.
KTM RC 390 with lots of assistance systems
The KTM RC 390 offers a selection of assistance systems that are normally only found on large-volume motorcycles, including SUPERMOTO ABS, cornering ABS and cornering MTC as well as the optional Quickshifter +. Thanks to a new TFT display, the KTM RC 125 and KTM RC 390 can now use KTM MY RIDE - a system that presents important information to the driver at a glance. The display can also be customized as required. In addition, it automatically adapts to the strength of the ambient light. The KTM RC models of the new generation underpin the motto READY TO RACE in the supersport class and cement their position with real racing suitability and the corresponding technology. The new generation of the KTM RC is expected to be available from authorized KTM dealers from March 2022.
