After announcing at the EICMA show in Milan 2021 that the model name Hornet will return to the motorcycle line-up, Honda today publishes the first design sketches that allow an insight into shaping details and at the same time reveal the combination of technical beauty and thrilling dynamics , which characterizes the DNA of the future new model. The creation of the design sketches was led by the R&D Center in Rome, which, in close cooperation with the Honda R&D headquarters in Japan, has already contributed to the design of many successful European Honda models, including the CRF1100L Africa Twin, the CB650R and the X- adv. The design concept for the new Hornet was created by 28-year-old Giovanni Dovis, who was most recently responsible for the visual appearance of the New Urban Scooter ADV350.
- The first design sketches of the Honda Hornet show a mix of technical beauty, energy and powerful dynamics
- Honda R&D in Italy and Japan worked together on the design concept
Giovanni Dovis, Designer, Honda R&D Europe, Italy:
- “Honda's design philosophy aims to combine formal purity with functionality to create models that are beautiful, simple and emotionally appealing. The designs show how the design concept of the Hornet combines agility, dynamics and lightness with slim proportions, a pointed rear end and sharp lines. The result is a new look with compact proportions that creates exciting dynamics and outlines the sporting purpose of the Hornet.«
