Debut in Paris: Shelby American Series 2 with V8 compressor

Unlike other American manufacturers, the guys from Shelby American on yesterday's Paris Motor Show 2018 (4. Oct. 2018 - 14. October) presents a vehicle. The Series 2! Shelby apparently sees potential for Europe and so the American manufacturer & tuner came to France to show the retro athlete to the public. The 2nd edition is the official successor to the Series 1998 that started in 1 and was discontinued over a decade ago due to financial problems. A design based on the legendary Shelby Cobra and an Oldsmobile 4,0-liter V8 were the decisive features of the Series 1. 12 years later they try it again and bring along in cooperation Wingard Motorsports a new sports car on the market.

hardly any visual differences to the Series 1

Again, an aluminum monocoque chassis is installed, which is due to numerous modifications, of course, on the current state of affairs. In addition, there is a completely new chassis, chic 19 alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires and improved processing. Outside, the rest is otherwise identical to the Series 1. However, Shelby has changed the athlete in detail. For example, there is a high-performance brake system with red six-piston calipers all around. There is a weight reduction of a whopping 12% (Curb weight approx. 1.165 kg) and the old 4,0-liter V8 has been replaced in favor of a V8 compressor. At least 580 PS are announced from now on but who wants to get synonymous easily via 800 PS Shelby. Opposite the Series 1 with a maximum of 460 PS that is of course a huge leap.

the interior convinces with lots of leather

The presentation vehicle convinced with a very successful interior that was completely dressed in leather and culminated in meticulous craftsmanship down to the last detail. From the footwell to the frame of the windshield, everything is covered in leather and of course that also applies to the ultralight bucket seats. Shelby only plans to produce 4 vehicles a year, and here you can choose from three different materials. Aluminum, carbon or the original 1 Series titanium shell. The aluminum vehicles come with brushed or polished optics and the fact that you only get a kit delivered. Wingard Motorsports builds the Roadster but on request completely together. Of course only for a fee. If we receive timely information on further details of the Series 2 there is of course an update for this report.
