Bentley today unveiled details of the new Bentayga - the ultimate luxury SUV. Since the market launch of the Bentayga, 20.000 copies have been made by hand - more than any competitor model. The new Bentayga opens a new chapter in this incredible success story. A new exterior design takes up the Bentley design language, the elements of which are now reflected in the entire model range. Bentley has the freshest and most modern product family of all luxury vehicle manufacturers. The new model has been significantly revised inside and out and scores with the latest on-board technology and an even more comfortable interior. The Bentayga combines the capabilities of a high-performance Grand Tourer with the characteristics of a luxury sedan, a spacious family vehicle and an off-road vehicle, thus following the traces of the previous model as an automobile with the most diverse field of application that can be found on the market today.

The further development of the vehicle with which the luxury SUV category was launched raises power, luxury and practicality to an absolute top level. The new Bentayga, designed, constructed and handcrafted in Crewe in English, can build on the extraordinary success of the previous model. Like the Continental GT, the Bentayga created a completely new market segment that many other manufacturers have been striving for since then. With the new Bentayga, we are raising the bar in the luxury SUV segment a whole lot higher - and thus even more unattainable for the competition. We listened very carefully to our customers and optimized the areas that are most important to them. The new Bentayga is a thoroughly modern vehicle and a beautiful evolution of the skills and achievements of the original model."
The new Bentayga overview
The core of the new Bentayga is the fascinatingly dynamic look, which is inspired by the new design language of the brand, which was introduced with the third generation of the Continental GT and the brand new Flying Spur. Together, the three vehicles form a new model family that is visually more closely connected than ever before. Every area on the front of the vehicle has been redesigned to achieve a clearer, more modern appearance - bold styling that ensures a confident street presence. The enlarged, self-confident matrix grill is now more upright, while the new, intelligent LED matrix headlight technology is rounded off by the familiar Bentley design inspired by cut crystal glass. A more aggressive front bumper emphasizes the performance-oriented properties of the vehicle. For the first time, the windscreen wipers are equipped with 22 heated washing nozzles in each arm. The rear of the new Bentayga has also undergone a major transformation: the rear surfaces have been completely redesigned, including the revised wide tailgate with new integrated lights. The license plate, on the other hand, has been moved down into the bumper and thus ensures a clearer look.

The wide tailpipes leave no doubt about the performance of the vehicle. The rear track width has been increased by 20 mm, which improves the dynamics and repositioned the wheels in the wheel arches, giving the vehicle an even more confident appearance. The wheels themselves have been redesigned exclusively for the Bentayga. The highly acclaimed interior of the Bentayga has also been significantly revised compared to the previous model. Major changes have been made to the central dashboard, steering wheel and door panels, among other things. The completely new seats can be equipped with a ventilation function in the five-seater version in the rear. The rear passengers can also enjoy a much more generous amount of space: depending on the configuration, the footwell has been enlarged by up to 100 mm. The next generation infotainment system, seamlessly integrated into the handcrafted dashboard with Bentley wing design, is equipped with a 10,9 inch screen with borderless display. The all-new digital instrument display offers high-resolution, dynamic graphics that can be adapted to the driver's preferences.
The latest hardware and software enable a completely revised navigation with satellite maps, online search and other functions. In addition to the existing connection via USB cable, Apple CarPlay can now also be used wirelessly for the first time as standard. Android Auto is also available (depending on the region). Passengers in the rear can look forward to the introduction of a new, larger tablet that functions as a touchscreen remote control similar to the brand new Flying Spur. Vehicle networking has been significantly optimized: The USB-C sockets and an inductive charging option for mobile phones are now part of the standard equipment. Like the latest Continental GT models, the new Bentayga is now also equipped with an embedded SIM card (eSIM). In this way, the My Bentley networking services can be used without customers having to provide their own data connection. "My Bentley" is a constantly evolving package with which customers can control numerous vehicle functions on board or remotely via an exclusive app for Apple iOS and Android.
For the first time in a Bentley, the luxurious interior can be equipped with a dark-tinted Diamond Brushed aluminum surface. In addition, two types of veneer with an elegant longitudinal grain are now available for the Bentayga: Koa and Crown Cut Walnut. The Mulliner Driving Specification has been supplemented with a new design for the stitching and the seats can optionally be decorated with micro piping. The new model will initially be launched as a Bentayga V8 variant, which combines the performance of a super sports car with everyday suitability. The new Bentayga should be available later this year as a plug-in hybrid or W12 speed. The double-turbocharged 4,0-liter gasoline engine of the V8 develops 550 hp and a torque of 770 Nm.

When it was launched in November 2015, the first Bentayga defined a completely new vehicle segment. As the first real luxury SUV in the world, it set the standard and offered customers a Grand Touring experience even in the most demanding terrain. At its market premiere, the Bentayga was the fastest, most powerful and most exclusive SUV in the world. As a result of an £ 840 million investment project, 1.500 jobs were created in the UK and Bentley became the first luxury brand to have an SUV in its range. The Bentayga was probably designed with the widest range of tasks in the history of the automobile: it was to offer the performance of a super sports car, the driving comfort of a limousine, semi-autonomous driving, various drive options and an off-road capability that could compete with the best premium SUVs - and in spite of everything, meet the demands on the craftsmanship, the luxury and the quality of a Bentley.
The Bentayga can be equipped with various petrol engines or alternatively with a diesel or hybrid drive. With a leading performance in its vehicle class, the Bentayga has since won a number of international awards. The model was an overwhelming success for Bentley: In 2019, the Bentayga accounted for 45 percent of total global sales. Since the market premiere, the vehicle segment created by the Bentayga has been supplemented by some new models from competitors. But despite these competitive offerings, the Bentayga remained the best-selling luxury SUV.
In addition to its economic success, the Bentayga earned its spurs worldwide on every conceivable surface - when racing with kite surfers on Danish beaches, across inhospitable deserts in Chile and Bolivia, trekking in Iceland, dune surfing in the Middle East or when setting up a new SUV. A new exterior design
The body design of the new Bentayga has been completely renewed. The result is an even more stylish, imposing vehicle that perfectly implements Bentley's new design language. Every surface at the front and rear of the vehicle has been modified to give it a clearer, more modern look - but without changing the coefficients for air resistance or lift. JP Gregory, head of exterior design at Bentley Motors, comments: “We spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to optimize the proportions and character of the vehicle. The new Bentayga is still recognizable as a Bentley at first glance, but has a much more confident street presence. What we have achieved is significant progress. The new Bentayga is a charismatic SUV from every angle. The splendid radiator grille and higher positioned elliptical headlights give the vehicle a more modern expression - a powerful signal."
A number of thoughtful design details are inspired by the newest members of the Bentley family, including the third generation of the Continental GT and the new Flying Spur. The focus of the design innovations is the revised matrix grill. The enlarged grill is at a steeper angle than before, allowing the elegant bonnet of the Bentayga to flow down to the edge of the chrome elements. This gives the vehicle a more confident, upright profile. The new LED matrix headlights are also moved further apart and moved upwards by 30 mm. The new elliptical headlights are a design premiere for Bentley. The crystal brand design, which makes the headlights sparkle even when switched off, reveals the new brand signature. These headlights are now gradually being dimmed up in a contemporary greeting sequence. The athleticism of the design is clearly visible in the side view. A new, longer air outlet was positioned above the expressive Powerline on the side of the front fender. The door surfaces have also been completely redesigned. The design is rounded off by simple V8 emblems.

A newly developed 22 ″ wheel, available in two different surfaces, increases the number of wheel designs available to five - all exclusively for Bentley vehicles. The dynamic presence of the vehicle was optimized by adjusting the lateral position of the wheels in the wheel arches, which reduced the horizontal gap between the wheel arches and the edge of the wheel arch. Probably the most dramatic design changes are reserved for the rear of the vehicle, where the new Bentayga stands out clearly from its predecessor. Like the Continental GT, the new Bentayga is equipped with elliptical tail lights for the first time. Their jewel-like grid pattern gives a rich, three-dimensional shimmer when the rear lights are switched on. These lights also activate with a welcome sequence. The direction indicator is designed as a running light.
The lights are embedded in a brand new tailgate that takes up the entire width of the rear. This creates a clearer, more modern look. The number plate was moved down into the bumper, which creates space for a generous Bentley lettering above. Larger, oval tailpipes resume the design of the rear lights, while a new, longer roof spoiler provides a more elegant profile that gives the entire vehicle a more dynamic look. The already extensive color range of the Bentayga is complemented by two new colors: "Viridian", a dark metallic green, which is based on the color of the vehicle study EXP 10 Speed 6, and "Patina", a luxurious medium cream white. A further dynamic accent is provided by various customization options, such as the modern urban Blackline Specification, in which all chrome-plated body trim elements are replaced by black variants.
A unique interior rethought
The elegantly handcrafted interior of the Bentayga has been completely rethought for the new model. The interior, already recognized as the benchmark for luxury SUVs, has been extensively modernized for the new Bentayga in an incomparable combination of luxury materials and exquisite craftsmanship. Bentley's designers have created an even more relaxing environment for the occupants wherever the journey takes them. The decisive changes to the more contemporary interior of the Bentayga include new door panels and a new steering wheel, as well as a redesigned dashboard and digital instrumentation. These innovations are rounded off by the revised seats, which further optimize the industry-recognized benchmark for seating comfort.

Be it the new, horizontal handle on the door or the exclusive quilting on the seats - every detail proves the above-average commitment of the design team. The new Bentayga will be a journey of discovery for our customers."
An infotainment screen of the latest generation is embedded in a familiar, yet reinterpreted Bentley wing design, which underlines the attractive appearance and practicality of the pioneering Bentayga. The two central air vents in the traditional porthole design have been replaced by an expressively shaped single air outlet above the large infotainment screen. The Breitling watch is also surrounded by its elegant chrome bezel. Smaller items such as a cell phone can be stowed in the long compartment on the side of the center console, while an inductive charger with signal amplifier is located directly in front of the gear lever.
There are three versatile seating configurations available in the new Bentayga. In addition to the standard equipment with five seats, a four-seat arrangement can be selected, in which the rear is equipped with two individual seats and a center console. A three-row configuration with seven seats offers the optimum in practicality and flexibility. The five-seater Bentayga is equipped with a completely revised seat frame, with which the maximum possible angle of inclination of the rear seats could be doubled. All seats are now more ergonomically shaped, especially in the shoulder area. The new upholstery and cover design are standard, while contrasting stitching and hand-stitched cross-stitching optionally add an extra touch. The seats of the Bentayga can also be decorated with micro piping for the first time. In the five-seat configuration, ventilation for the rear seats is now optionally available, which was previously only available for the four-seat interior.
In the four-seater Bentayga, the legroom could be increased by 30 mm when sitting upright and almost 100 mm when lying down. This makes luxury travel even more comfortable. A new design for the quilting has been developed for vehicles with Mulliner Driving Specification. In addition, customers can choose between eight veneer woods sourced from sustainable forestry, including two varieties with an elegant longitudinal grain for the Bentayga: Koa and Crown Cut Walnut. A fascinating dark-tinted diamond brushed aluminum surface is optionally available exclusively for the Bentayga. A Bentley premiere. This exquisite surface takes up the design of the Bentley matrix grill. In an elaborate process, the aluminum is brushed precisely from different directions, which creates a contemporary, three-dimensional effect.
High-tech infotainment system
In the new Bentayga, a state-of-the-art infotainment system is used for the first time, which sets new standards in the field of technology interfaces for customers. The larger, higher-contrast, high-resolution 10,9-inch touchscreen screen has a coating that reduces reflections and glare; the touch functionality has also been significantly improved. The screen now takes up the entire width of the central dashboard, thus ensuring a modern look. The content of the main window can either be selected using the buttons below the screen or from the main menu display. In addition, a freely configurable start page can be set up to display three favorites, such as telephone, navigation or media.
The further developed navigation system is equipped with a context-specific free text search, in which an address or a point of interest can be searched. In addition to other useful functions, the navigation was expanded to include a three-dimensional building display and satellite maps. Additional content is also shown in the driver's ultra-modern head-up display. Traffic reports, street names and the distance to the destination can now also be shown in the head-up display. In addition to the usual media sources, Apple CarPlay is now also available wirelessly in the new Bentayga (in addition to the previously wired system). Android Auto can be used for the first time in a Bentley. If a corresponding smartphone is connected to one of the vehicle's USB-C sockets, the central infotainment screen reflects the telephone display.
Like the Continental GT and the new Flying Spur, the new Bentayga is now equipped with a fully digital information and warning light field. The display gives the cockpit a contemporary look, can be adapted to the needs of the driver and impresses with elegantly animated real-time lighting effects. The high-resolution screen can be viewed in classic or expanded format. In classic format, the screen shows the traditional design with two displays for speed and speed. In the expanded format, an area for navigation and media information is displayed instead of the right dial. The latest version of the My Bentley services for vehicle functions and remote access is available via the new Bentayga. As with the latest Continental GT model, the vehicle functions can now be accessed via an embedded SIM card (eSIM), so that a data connection via a customer's mobile device is no longer necessary to use online services.
Key features, such as real-time traffic announcements and radio updates, will be available to customers in all markets where Bentley networking services are offered. Depending on the region, new networking services such as online music, predictive detection of green phases and information about local sources of danger will be available. Remote control functions - if available regionally - can be accessed via the My Bentley app. These functions have been technically optimized and expanded to include options that our customers have come to expect - from "Find my vehicle" and "Lock my vehicle" to querying vehicle status and statistics. The integration of other functions was also considered, such as the control of the auxiliary heating, if available.

Characteristic of the new Bentayga is the introduction of a whole series of innovative, technically advanced functions that raise the travel experience to a new level. Two different audio systems are offered for the Bentayga. The high-quality Bentley Signature audio system with 590 watts of power and 12 speakers is now included as standard. The optional Naim for Bentley system offers 1.780 watts with an impressive 20 speakers, including active bass speakers under both front seats and super tweeters in the A and B pillars. The Naim for Bentley audio system, which is unrivaled in the automotive sector, is equipped with eight sound modes, ranging from "digital media" to "classic". The covers of the Naim for Bentley speakers have been redesigned and supplemented with an illuminated Naim emblem.
Integrated air ionizers release negatively charged particles into the interior via the central ventilation nozzles of the air conditioning systems, thus optimizing the air purity and the well-being of the occupants. These negatively charged particles statically charge dirt particles in the air, such as dust or allergens, and ensure that they adhere to the closest surface. This removes contaminants from the occupants' breathing air.
Similar to the brand new Flying Spur, rear passengers in the new Bentayga can enjoy technological progress in the form of a new, larger tablet PC that serves as a touchscreen remote control. The tablet with a screen size of five inches has not only been modernized with regard to the graphics, but also equipped with additional computing power thanks to the integrated quad-core processor and 1 GB RAM. The device can control a number of functions, from the heating and massage function of the rear seats to the media system and navigation to mood lighting and sun blinds.
The new Bentayga is equipped with a comprehensive package of driver assistance systems and the latest headlight technology. This includes three automatic operating modes for the low beam as well as a matrix system that enables the customer to drive with high beam throughout without dazzling other road users. Each Matrix headlamp is made up of 82 powerful LEDs that optimize functionality and ensure safety in traffic. With this sophisticated technology, the shape of the headlight cone is constantly adjusted by automatically deactivating certain LEDs in order to "cut out" other road users from the light cone.
One of the three adaptive headlight operating modes is city mode, which is used at speeds below 50 km / h. In this operating mode, the headlamp cone is short but wide, making it perfect for city traffic. The highway mode is designed for cruising speeds between 50 and 100 km / h. The light cone is raised and adjusted to a narrower field of view. In motorway mode, the headlight cone is raised even further and the light intensity is increased to improve visibility. Visibility and comfort are also optimized by the new wipers with integrated washing nozzles. For this purpose, 22 heated washing nozzles were integrated in each wiper arm. This system avoids distracting spray mist on the window, and the cleaning effect is significantly improved. The new Bentayga is also equipped with the most important functions that made the original model such a success: from the practical suitability of the non-contact tailgate and the bottle cooler to the safety-oriented City Specification equipment package and the rear view camera.
Performance and efficiency
At the heart of the new Bentayga is Bentley's proven 4,0-liter V8 gasoline engine with 32 valves and double twin-scroll turbocharger, which combines immense power with impressive fuel efficiency. In conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the V8 offers the performance of a super sports car: 550 hp and 770 Nm of torque with a top speed of 290 km / h and acceleration from 0-100 km / h in 4,5 seconds. The leading performance in this vehicle class of the new Bentayga V8 is supplemented by a range of 733 km without a refueling stop and CO2 emissions of 265 g / km. The function contributes to improved efficiency (11,6 l / 100 km combined), being able to deactivate four of the eight cylinders of the engine in appropriate conditions without impairing the driving experience.
Bentley Dynamic Ride - the world's first active electrical roll stabilization - has been further developed for the new Bentayga: the rear track width has been increased by 20 mm, which reduces the effort required on the steering wheel and improves the linearity of the response. Bentley Dynamic Ride counteracts lateral inclination forces when cornering. It thus ensures maximum tire contact with the road and ensures unmatched vehicle stability, high comfort and perfect handling. Thanks to Bentley's driving dynamics mode and the optionally available all-terrain specification, the new Bentayga in the SUV segment offers the most extensive range of driving settings for road and off-road. In up to eight modes - four for paved roads and four off-road modes - the perfect dynamic suspension set-up for every surface or road condition can be selected using an easy-to-use rotary control.
The new Bentayga will also be offered as an efficient hybrid version at a later date - as the first real plug-in hybrid in the luxury vehicle segment. The hybrid is a further development of the previous model and will be Bentley's most efficient vehicle to date and the first step towards electrification. In addition, a performance-oriented speed model with an even more impressive look is planned. The Speed is the top of the Bentayga family and will be powered by Bentley's proven 6,0-liter W12 TSI engine.
