Exclusive Ford GT40 Mk1 Street from RUF: the street miracle from 1966!

40 Ford GT1 Mk1966 Street, a name that inspires awe in automotive circles. Because the rare road model, of which there are only 31 pieces worldwide, is almost as rare as the famous “Blue Mauritius” stamp. Originally sold for an exorbitant price of 60.000 DM or 85.000 francs, the GT40 was considered one of the most expensive cars on the market at the time. The street version of the legend known as Ford GT40 Street (Mk1), was sold in a first series in 1966 and 1967. The vehicles are characterized by an 8-speed automatic transmission and an output of 186 kW (253 hp) + 107 kW (145 hp) out of. Despite the high price, some of the road cars were later converted for racing use.

A particularly stylish example of the rare road GT40 will be available in January 2024 Kissimmee Auction from mecum offered in Florida. The vehicle was once owned by Umberto Maglioli, a three-time Targa Florio winner, and only shows 13.442 miles (approx. 21.633 km) on the odometer. Interestingly, the GT40 is equipped with right-hand drive and a right-shift transmission. And the highlight: The Catering The almost racing car-like vehicle was designed by RUF Automobiles carried out by a company that is actually known for its work on Porsche vehicles. Of course, the authenticity and adherence to the original configurations were carefully considered.

There are no estimates of the proceeds!

Unfortunately, we do not know how RUF came to process it. But we know other details of the vehicle. The engine, a Ford 289 cubic inch V8, is a work of art in itself, with an intake tract, that of two shiny intake and Weber carburettors is crowned. Original GT40 Street models are currently extremely rare. Are there more than 10 to 15 pieces left? We do not know it. While the “Blue Mauritius” with up to 1 million euros is estimated, the value of the GT40 could reach many times over. The rare one 40 Ford GT1 Mk1966 Street, which will soon go under the hammer, is not only a dream for collectors, but also a fascinating piece of automotive history that is second to none.
