Ford Mustang 2024: VMP compressor and double throttle body!

The world of tuning is all about performance and innovation. An example of this is VMP Performance's latest project for the Ford Mustang model year 2024 (S650). Justin Starkey, the brains behind VMP, has one Supercharger package (supercharger kit) introduced for the latest Mustang. The Mustang VMP Supercharger kit retains the stock dual induction, which is an unusual decision. The two will probably still be used 80 millimeter throttle bodies, which can be found in both the GT and the more powerful Dark Horse. The throttle valve is a central element. It regulates how much air enters the engine, controlled by the accelerator pedal. More air plus more fuel results in more efficient – the calculation is that simple.

The change to double throttle valves is new to the fourth generation of the 5,0-liter Coyote V8 in the 2024 Mustang. In the video and in the pictures you can see a modified GT (not a Dark Horse). compressors from the Magnuson brand. That leaves one Roots-type supercharger from Eaton's TVS range. VMP already sells a supercharger kit for the third-generation V8 priced at $6.999,99, including 3,5-inch pulleys. The supercharger has a volume of 2,65 liters. With the double set-up of the latest kit, expect the price to rise to over $7.000. Although the hardware looks promising, tuning remains a challenge.

The software must be cracked!

HP Tuners, SCT Flash & Co. will certainly provide solutions. But, an additional obstacle is the strong one Engine control encryption of the Mustang, comparable to that of the Corvette C8. The FNV electrical architecture of the S650 Mustang blocks tuning attempts by blocking various components or even the entire vehicle during software manipulation disabled. Ford wants to ensure that only cooperating tuning partners such as Shelby, Roush or Saleen have access to the system. But VMP Performance shows that the last word in Mustang tuning is far from being spoken.
